Obama Derangement Syndrome (ODS)

I should start by saying that I've not given up hope that McCain/Palin will win the election - I still have hope and there have been some few bright spots in recent polls with Obama losing fractional support and McCain gaining some ground. But the electoral map looks bleak. In the event that Obama does win, I'm proposing our own insurgent effort to make life hard for him.

We’ve all heard of BDS (Bush Derangement Syndrome), it’s a malady first identified by Charles Krauthammer in a 2003 column. He defined BDS as taking a “reflexive opposition to any position advocated by Bush for no other reason than that Bush happens to be advocating it.”

President Bush was subject to extensive mischaracterizations, indignities, inappropriate adjectives, and outright lies during his term. Any semblance of respect for the office of the President was flushed down the toilet as a byproduct of demeaning George Bush. Those hateful comments were made to damage his personal approval and by association, that of the Republican party. All of that in order to tarnish the dem’s opposition (us) and thus win elections. There is no doubt that Bush was unfairly treated during his term – and not only by the democrats, but by the majority of the print and broadcast media as well.

In the spirit of fairness (remember, the dems are such staunch proponents of a “fairness” doctrine), I propose that if Obama is elected, we conservative bloggers voluntarily infect ourselves with a new strain of derangement syndrome, one called “ODS”, just to be fair. And, that we attack Obama (figuratively) in the same way that the left has savaged President Bush. The only limitation that I would propose is that we still try to maintain some respect for the office of the Presidency, even though an un-American charlatan occupies it.

We undoubtedly will learn more of Barack Hussein Obama in the coming months and years. I propose that we spread the truth about any new findings as they surface, but that we do not forget what we already know – i.e., Ayers, Wright, Pfleger, Rezko, etc. and continue to pound him with every bit of information that we have. Even to the seemingly innocuous “big ears” and “can’t bowl” attributes. I fully intend to do everything I can (legally) to make Obama’s life more difficult – as has been done to George Bush.

After all, it’s only fair.
