Our “Black” presidents and Is’ism

NOTE: Pesky Truth’s Rules and Practices dictate that the word “president” should be capitalized when referring to a U.S. president by name, unless overridden by a lack of respect for the incumbent.

Our “Black” presidents and Is’ism

Is’ism isn’t new, it’s been practiced by con-men and charlatans for centuries, it’s just that our first two “black” presidents elevated its application to an artistic level.

What is “Is’ism,” you ask?

It’s the deliberate selection of words and phrases to imply something without definitively stating the implication. That way, a statement can never be pinned down. It relies on the audience’s subjective interpretation of what was said, as opposed to a definitive statement of fact(s) that could actually be concluded from the words. Supporters hear what they want to hear.

Nothing is stated without ambiguity – nothing is stated with specificity. If the speaker approves of an interpretation, you heard him correctly – if he disagrees with your interpretation, you misunderstood him (it’s your fault).

Didn’t Bill Clinton warn us that it all depends on what the definition of “is” is … ? What a crock.

Practically anything that Obama says is automatically certified as gospel truth by (at least) three factions of his supporters:

1. Blacks believe whatever he says because he is both black and a democrat, that’s why more than seventy-five percent of them continue to support him. They have faith simply because he is a black democrat.

2. Organized liberal groups, like ACORN, SEIU, etc., who are allied with Obama (and funded by Soros, et al) in order to introduce a new anti-American, anti-capitalistic, socialistic form of government

3. Ignorant people. Those classed as “ignorant” are saddled with an innate mental cluelessness and/or are handicapped by an inability to understand words more complex than “I” or “me.” Note that, in many cases, Group 3 also contains many individuals already participating in Group 1 and/or Group 2. Those are defined as “multidimensional” idiots.

Those groups have no interest in reading H.R.3200 or analyzing why “Cap and Trade” is a bad idea. If Obama blesses it, it must be righteous.

Thus, Obama can say that his overhaul of America’s healthcare will yield better care at a lower cost and even though there is ample evidence to the contrary, they still believe him.

Obamacare’s Magic Beans

In a letter to president Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid state "Our nation is closer than ever to achieving health insurance reform that will lower costs, retain choice, improve quality and expand coverage.” Boy, that’s some magic reform. Will it also increase size and staying power, resulting in a more satisfying performance?

They say that Obamacare going to cover 47,000,000 more residents and (somehow) cost less? Never mind that the 47 million is a completely bogus number to begin with, what kind of brainless dolts do they think we are? It is not possible to cover an additional 47 million residents without dramatically reducing (by rationing) the level of care that we’ve come to expect, yet they pooh pooh that (or should it be wee wee that?).

Here is one fundamental reason that the statement is demonstrably false.

Considering the current shortage of doctors, have any Obamacare advocates specified how the additional 47 million residents would be treated? We currently have some 800,586 physicians treating our roughly 300,000,000 residents, a ratio of 2.67 doctors per 1,000 people¹. To keep medical care at the same level (maintaining the same physician/resident ratio), we’ll need an additional 125,490 doctors to treat those 47 million – where will they come from? Can Obama wiggle his nose or click his heels together to magically produce them? Or must we plant Obama’s magic beans?

A Pesky Truth: improve quality and reduce cost at the same time? Here's a clue: name all of the federal programs that have improved efficiency and reduced costs at the same time. Please send your list to Pesky Truth.

Therefore, what we’ll have without any immediate and substantive increase in the number of physicians is a dramatically lower physician-to-resident ratio. With a lower physician-to-resident ratio, some residents will not be able to get treatment as promptly or to as great an extent as needed, resulting in compounding serious health problems, and for some, even death.

The only way to spread a limited number of doctors over a substantially larger patient population, is to reduce the time and/or care that a doctor can expend on an individual patient – and by rationing the health care to those who are deemed (by a bureaucratic triage) to be most deserving.

And don’t forget the nurses. Our healthcare system simply couldn’t operate without qualified, trained nurses. We currently have 2,417,150 nurses providing care to 300,000,000 residents¹ – a ratio of 8.07 nurses per 1,000 residents. Adding another 47 million residents would require an additional 379,290 nurses – where will they come from? How long would it take just to train that many additional nurses?

There are many other reasons that Obamacare simply, logically, cannot possibly work the way it is described by Obama himself and his supporters – this is but one.

It is plain that Obama and his supporters are not telling the truth.

A Pesky Truth: The only citizens who believe the Obamacare lies are the uninformed and the Kool-Aid drinkers.

The “Lying” of the Senate

If there was any remaining doubt of the left’s softness on crime, Ted Kennedy’s passing should remove it. He has been lauded for his achievements in the Senate. But he was there for almost 47 years, wouldn’t you expect some achievements? That’s more than a career, that’s a lifetime. Cesar Millan (the Dog Whisperer) could teach a beagle to speak Swahili in 47 years.

But many ignore the fact that he was a drunken, misogynistic, traitorous, coward. To wit:

  • He was kicked out of Harvard for cheating on a Spanish final exam²
  • He left a woman to die in an overturned car in six or seven feet of water to save his political career³
  • He interfered in his nephew’s rape trial4
  • He was known to be a drunkard who sexually assaulted women5
  • Ted Kennedy conspired with Soviet President Yuri Andropov to lend the Soviets aid in opposing the foreign policy initiatives of President Ronald Reagan.  In return, the Soviets were to help the Democratic Party in a propaganda war against Reagan during the upcoming 1984 presidential election in the U.S.7

This is a man to worship? If Kennedy had been an “R” instead of a “D,” he’d have been tarred and feathered by the OM (Obsolete Media), and ridden out of DC on a splinter-filled fence rail.

Just as the other democrat ruling class miscreants, Clinton, Frank, Dodd, Rangel, et al, all get a bye just because of that all-important “D” by their name, it’s much like having a big Superman “S” emblazoned on one’s chest – it makes one impervious to accountability.

Glenn Beck, A One-man Mainstream Media

I’m guess I’m finally sold.

I’d listened to or watched Beck sporadically for awhile. More recently, I’ve been listening to some of his radio show and watching some of his TV show. As of today, I’m recording all of his TV shows and won’t miss any more of them – they’re too important.

I’ve come to the conclusion that Glenn Beck is “connecting the dots” better than anyone else in the country, except for (possibly) Michelle Malkin. He is uncovering information about Obama’s new czars and about the connections between little-known “progressive” groups and their agendas. It’s about time that we connect these dots because ignoring them will be our downfall.

While he does sometimes push the loonery envelope, and some may call Beck a kook, he won me over because I’ve watched him broadcast much of the same information that I spent a lot of time researching for my “Connecting the Dots” series for Pesky Truth. At least relating to that information, I believe that his pronouncements are based on facts that I’ve independently verified. My research was done before his shows that concentrated on ACORN, SEIU, Wade Rathke, Tides Foundation, etc. so my studies weren’t triggered by his broadcasts. Yet, I came to the same conclusions – that the country is at risk from attack by radical leftists and the Obama administration.

In the last two weeks, he has been prodding his viewers and listeners to ask questions. Simply ask questions. To question how and why so many who have Obama’s ear are Socialists, Marxists, Communists, or otherwise anti-American and anti-capitalists.  What is their overall agenda? Why has B. Hussein Obama surrounded himself with so many anti-American radicals? Either Obama has assembled the largest group of “devil’s advocates” known to man or he’s hired them because they think like he does. As Beck says, “you be the judge.”

His questions have been logical and reasonable, and we citizens have a right to know the answers. So far as I’ve seen, the attacks against Beck have belittled everything about him, from his on-camera antics to his previous alcoholism – but no one has refuted his allegations. Why? If, he is a lying, ignorant, rabble-rousing, P.O.S., enlighten us with the corrections to his allegations – show us the evidence of his lies.

A Pesky Truth: They haven’t, they won’t, they can’t.

A Revision to the “Throw the Bums Out” Movement

As bad as the chumps in congress are, they couldn’t act with such impunity and arrogance if not for the support of the OM (obsolete media). Imagine if you will, that the publications and networks identified in the following Byron York piece were publicizing the Van Jones story in a similar fashion to Glenn Beck, Fox News, and the Internet bloggers. If the truth were widely known, Mr. Jones (“Mr.” term used loosely) would play hell finding a job as a Czar of Tater Tots for Sonic.

This lack of coverage in the OM is the very definition of “aid and comfort” to congress and the Obama administration. The OM is NOT objective and we can no longer depend on them for any real journalism. Therefore, they are even WORSE than Congress – they are ENABLING the irresponsible actions of Obama and our congress, by their willful non-reporting of anything remotely detrimental to the congress or the administration. We need to throw them out as well – and we can do that by not buying their tripe-laden newsprint or their flatus-laced airtime.

The Van Jones (non) feeding frenzy

From a Nexis search a few moments ago:

Total words about the Van Jones controversy in the New York Times: 0.
Total words about the Van Jones controversy in the Washington Post: 0.
Total words about the Van Jones controversy on NBC Nightly News: 0.
Total words about the Van Jones controversy on ABC World News: 0.
Total words about the Van Jones controversy on CBS Evening News: 0.

If you were to receive all your news from any one of these outlets, or even all of them together, and you heard about some sort of controversy involving president Obama's Special Adviser for Green Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, your response would be, "Huh?" If you heard that that adviser, Van Jones, had apologized for a number of remarks and positions in the recent past, your response would be, "What?" And if you were in the Obama White House monitoring the Jones situation, you would be hoping that the news organizations listed above continue to hold the line -- otherwise, Jones, who is quite well thought of in Obama circles, would be history.

I think that the OM is having a “deer in the headlights” moment. They don’t know what to do. Their circulation and viewership is dropping precipitously, gradually moving to the “new” media and Fox News, yet rather than expose the truth about congress and the Obama administration, they will apparently fall on their swords. The stockholders of those entities should DEMAND that they begin to exercise some journalistic fortitude and give their dwindling customer base some real news – or suffer the consequences, the figurative death of their brands.

Obama’s Transpiracy

Obama’s Transpiracy

The transparency that candidate Obama promised has transmutated into “transpiracy.”

This is a new word, created especially for His Onlyness, B. Hussein Obama and congress. It combines the prefix “trans” and “piracy” to arrive at its definition: The redistribution of stuff from “haves” to the pirates by forcibly seizing citizen’s money through taxation.

Pirates go all the way back to the 13th century, but we’re more familiar with the movie depictions of Captain Kidd, Blackbeard and the like. Just stop and think; what is the difference between what they did and what Obama and the democrats are doing? Taking booty from the “rich” to support their immoral agenda. The only difference is that the pirates of old used pistols and swords while Obama and his minions use deception, obfuscation, intimidation, and a bunch of other “tions” to achieve the same results. Same source of revenue, same desired result, only the vehicle of transference has changed.

Blackbeard and William Kidd would have been out of their element in the polite society of the 1700s just as Obama, Pelosi, and Reid (oh my) are out of place in a Christian, Constitution-based, capitalistic America. They don’t like the freedoms afforded citizens – after all, citizens are so ordinary and can’t be trusted to do the “right” thing. Therefore, our elected pirates must re-mold and re-shape the country into one which is insulated from the whimsy of the uninformed cretins who make up the citizenry.

It’s our own fault – we put them in their current positions, we gave them the figurative ships and cannon, the pistols and swords, and now as we stand out on the edge of a teetering plank, we are finally beginning to realize the mistake we made in trusting these villains.

I’m quite certain that most Obama supporters genuinely believed that they were doing the right thing when they voted for him. Never mind that Obama wasn’t (and still isn’t) qualified to manage a lemonade stand, much less the massive United States federal government.

But, he was going to “save” our country.

Under Obama, racial tensions would disappear; we’d “transcend race.” America would once again be admired and loved by all of the people on the planet. We’d become energy-independent and we’d rescue the planet from those villainous humans. Unemployment would practically disappear because he’d create (not save) millions of new high-paying jobs. He’d cut the deficit in half and introduce a new bipartisanship into the country’s political arena.

All this would come to pass because we elected a (half) black, leftist community organizer to the presidency. Talk about unfounded faith.

Millions of us became addicted to the idea that hope and change (in the form of a Chicago politician) would solve all of our problems. Well, we got change – a butt-load of change, with little of that change being for the better. So now we hope that we can stop the reckless rush to add the United States to the scrap heap of failed world powers.

But let’s be fair. B. Hussein Obama isn’t the captain of the pirate vessel, he’s just the helmsman. He is the figurehead – the one who appears to be steering the ship of state. But it’s a façade, he’s being given the course and sailing orders by his venture capitalists financiers (George Soros, et al) and the crew (congress) who subcontract out the writing of our laws and can’t (won’t) bother to read the directions for spending OUR booty.

Isn’t it funny that congress can find the time to take junkets, vacation with lobbyists, and develop unusual parliamentary procedures to circumvent normal legislative rules but can’t be bothered to read the spending instructions for BILLIONS of taxpayer dollars? It’s a safe bet that each legislator can quote line and verse of the part of a 1,200 page bill that directs (earmarks) a few billion dollars to his/her interests.

The 536 cutthroats now managing our country are inept, arrogant, dishonest pirates who are blind with power and greed and have no regard for we the people who put them in charge. It’s time THEY walked the plank. We should be surprised that congressional offices aren’t adorned with Jolly Roger skull and cross bone flags.

It’s time to send them all home with a hearty Yo Ho Ho and a bottle of cheap rum (made in China, if possible).

Let's limit members of congress to two terms, one in office and one in jail.

The BEST Star Spangled Banner - EVER! And it's by KIDS

This is a rendition of the Star Spangled Banner performed by five little girls (with big voices). Two six-year-olds, two seven-year-olds, and an eight-year-old. Performed at a Texas Tech basketball game on February 9th, it is simply one of the BEST performances of the SSB that I've ever heard. It brought a lump to my throat and misted up my eyes, and I'm not ashamed to say it. If you love this country, I defy you to listen to it and not feel the same emotions.

The girl on the far left is eight, the two in the center are seven and the two on the far right are six. It was said that you could hear a pin drop during their performance.

UPDATE: It seems that I'm behind the curve on these little girls. Several of my friends were already aware of the Cactus Cuties (as they're known). They've been around for several years and the eight-year-old is now fourteen. They performed on the 700 Club and at a San Antonio Spurs game. I googled them and found several more performances of different tunes - but none outdid this version of the Star Spangled Banner.

Connect the Dots: (4) SEIU and More

A note from Garnet92: all parts of this series of articles are long. It’s unfortunate, but necessary. The posts could easily be much longer since there is that much worthwhile information available. I have tried to pare the voluminous data down to the most salient points, but some will feel that there is simply too much to read and skip these pieces. In that case, so be it. However, to those who really want to be informed, you will not get the complete picture without expending some effort.

This is the fourth in a series of articles exposing some little known information about the inner workings of our opposition – the liberal left. In the first three articles, Pesky Truth presented the most influential individuals, the funding sources (foundations, etc.) that provide the money for the liberal groups, followed by a post that concentrated on ACORN.

This piece will highlight other liberal groups that seek to overthrow our Constitution and establish a Socialistic government that eliminates capitalism and (supposedly) provides a Utopia for everyone. This installment includes SEIU, The Shadow Party, and HCAN.

Remember that the players are highlighted in bold RED, the funds, organizations, or groups are highlighted in bold BLUE, and big bucks they throw around are in bold GREEN.

Service Employees International Union

Why is the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) leading this group presentation? Because they contributed more to left-leaning 527 groups than any other funding source over the last three elections. Those 527 recipients were political organizations that channeled money to democratic candidates, PACs (political action committees), and other liberal groups. 527s are so named by referring to the section of the U.S. tax code (Section 527) that controls their operation.

Look at these SEIU contributions:

·         2004: $47,695,646

·         2006: $28,212,510

·         2008: $34,534,324

That’s $110,442,480 spent by SEIU over three elections. The SEIU was the top contributor to 527s in 2006 and 2008.

This looks like a bona fide miracle – all of those janitorial members, those healthcare workers, the government employees – hardly the highest paid workers in the country, somehow managed to contribute over $110 million dollars to leftist causes – it’s like the loaves and fishes all over again!

The SEIU story began in 1921, when members of seven small janitor unions dared to dream that they could build their political strength by forming a single organization, the Building Service Employees International Union.  The BSEIU, a union of mostly immigrant workers chartered by the then-AFL, changed its name to Service Employees International Union (SEIU) in 1968. Chicago-based Local 1, SEIU's first local union, is still organizing janitors and security officers today.

SEIU's membership has grown from 625,000 in 1980 to more than 2 million todayacross the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. The Service Employees International Union (SEIU) ranks among the largest and fastest-growing unions in North America. It has more than 300 local affiliates and 25 state councils. Giving voice to its wish to radically transform an American society that it deems rife with inequity, SEIU's mission is "to improve the lives of workers and their families and create a more just and humane society." Classifying Women and minorities as the most aggrieved victims of discrimination and maltreatment, SEIU notes that 56 percent of its members are women and 40 percent are "people of color."

SEIU members work primarily in three service industry "divisions":

Healthcare:As America's largest union of health care workers, SEIU represents more than 900,000 caregivers and hospital employees, including  some 110,000 nurses and 40,000 doctors in public, private, and non-profit medical institutions.

Public Services:The second largest union of public service employees, SEIU represents over 1,000,000 local and state government workers, public school employees, bus drivers, and childcare providers.

Property Services:SEIU is the largest property services union, with 225,000 workers who clean, maintain, and protect commercial and residential office buildings.

The current President of
SEIU is the former New Leftist Andrew Stern, who advanced to the Union's top post in 1996 when his predecessor, John Sweeney, became President of the AFL-CIO.  At the outset of his tenure with SEIU, Stern told his members that he expected "every leader at every level of this union - from the international President to the rank-and-file member - to devote five working days this year to political action

In effect, this was a mandate for those union leaders to work in support of the Democratic Party. Stern also sits on the Executive Committee of America Coming Together, a Democratic Party auxiliary funded by George Soros. Moreover, SEIU is a major component of the so-called "Shadow Party," a nationwide network of more than five-dozen unions, nonprofit activist groups, and think tanks whose agendas are ideologically far left, and which are engaged in campaigning for the Democrats. Designated as a "527 organization", SEIU is not required to register as a "political organization" with the Federal Election Commission, and consequently may collect as much ”soft money" as it wishes, with no limits on how much it may receive from individuals or corporations. This money, in turn, is funneled to Democratic candidates, political action committees, and other "527" groups pursuing similar agendas.

After Howard Dean dropped out of the Presidential race in early 2004, Andrew Stern played a major role in persuading the Democratic presidential nominee, John Kerry, to pick Senator John Edwards as his running mate. As of June 2004, SEIU had already committed $65,000,000  towards defeating incumbent President George W. Bush in that year's November election. The money was used to finance voter registration drives, voter "education" initiatives, get-out-the-vote campaigns, and the efforts of some 2,000 political organizers working full-time against President Bush in 17 key battleground states. Moreover, the Union pledged to supply 50,000 "volunteers" from its membership rolls just prior to, and on, Election Day.

SEIU's membership growth is heavily dependent on the public (i.e., government) sector, where 37.2 percent of employees are currently unionized (as compared to only 8.2 percent of private sector workers). Since the middle of the twentieth century, union membership in the private sector has declined by more than 80 percent. Only in the public sector, have unions grown during this period. Because this is precisely the niche in which SEIU dwells, the Union has a vested interest in helping to elect Democratic leftists who will press to make government ever-larger, so that it can produce an ever-increasing number of union-dues-paying jobs for welfare workers, socialized medicine healthcare workers, Medicare nursing home workers and the like.

SEIU has also taken a stand on matters of national security: In 2004, the Union endorsed the Civil Liberties Restoration Act, which was designed to roll back, in the name of protecting civil liberties, vital national-security policies (such as the Patriot Act) that had been adopted after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. This is clearly an extreme left position since SEIU members would be expected to benefit from a secure America just like any other citizen, regardless of skin color or political affiliation.

Finally, here is an example of the power of the SEIU union. Based on contributing more than $33 million to the Obama campaign, you can imagine the clout that they must have with B. Hussein. Now that you know that, you’re ready to consider the following:

The Service Employees International Union is well known for representing the interests of illegal aliens. Now the Los Angeles Times reports that the union used its political pull to eliminate billions of dollars slated for California as the state is failing financially. Officials in the governor’s office say the politically powerful union may have had inappropriate influence over the Obama administration’s decision to withhold billions of dollars in federal stimulus money from California if the state does not reverse a scheduled wage cut for the labor group’s workers.

Political retribution? Purchased influence? You be the judge.

And here’s an SEIU-related update (August 2, 2009): as this is written, SEIU Local 1000 in California has authorized a strike if Governor Schwarzenegger doesn’t rescind a monthly three-day furlough that reduces state worker’s pay by 15%. The SEIU has 95,000 members in state government in California. The legislation that includes the furlough closed a $24 billion budget gap.

And a later August 7th update: Guess who we find “defending” the Obamacare proponents at the Town Meetings? SEIU members sporting their purple SEIU t-shirts. In one case, at Russ Carnahan’s event in St. Louis, the SEIU thugs were allowed entry into the meeting hall through a secondary door before ordinary citizens were allowed in (through the front door). They occupied the front half of the hall which reportedly had a 250-person occupant limit before opening the doors to a crowd of about 1,000 taxpayers who were clamoring to get into the meeting. Obviously, they were there in numbers to offset the citizens who were expected to engage in lively debate with Rep. Carnahan. Over 800 peaceful anti-healthcare-plan protestors were excluded from the meeting.

SEIU thugs were again trying to intimidate citizen protestors. One black conservative man was attacked by four SEIU thugs and sent to the hospital. Three SEIU men, all three were wearing purple SEIU t-shirts and one women attacked Kenneth Gladney for handing out conservative items while black. Here’s a link to the complete story on Hot Air:

THIS from the Community-Organizer-in-Chief. Isn’t it ironic that he is now against opposition communities organizing?

The Shadow Party

The so-called "Shadow Democratic Party," or "Shadow Party," is a nationwide network of more than five-dozen unions, non-profit activist groups, and think tanks whose agendas are ideologically to the left and which are engaged in campaigning for Democrats. Activities include fundraising, get-out-the-vote drives, political advertising, opposition research, and media manipulation. The Shadow Party was conceived and organized principally by George Soros, Hillary Clinton and Harold Ickes -- all identified with the Democratic Party left.

Who first coined the term "Shadow Party?" In the November 5, 2002 Washington Post, writer Thomas B. Edsall wrote of "shadow organizations" springing up to circumvent the McCain-Feingold's soft money ban. Journalist Lorraine Woellert first called the Democrat network a "shadow party" in a September 15, 2003 Business Week article titled, "The Evolution of Campaign Finance?" Other journalists quickly followed suit.

Wall Street billionaire George Soros is the Shadow Party's principal founder and mastermind. Clear hints of Soros' intentions began to appear as early as the 2000 election. It was then that Soros (shouldering about one-third of the cost) sponsored the so-called "Shadow Conventions." Organized by author, columnist, and socialite Arianna Huffington, the Shadow Conventions were media events designed to lure news crews from the real party conventions that year. Huffington held her "Shadow Conventions" at the same time and in the same cities as the Republican and Democratic Conventions, in Philadelphia and Los Angeles respectively, and featured leftwing critics of mainstream politics. The Shadow Conventions promoted Huffington's view that neither Democrats nor Republicans served the interests of the American people any longer. In Huffington's view, U.S. politics needed a third force to break the deadlock.

The Shadow Conventions were purely symbolic affairs. They fielded no candidates for office. However, many of Soros' activities during the 2000 campaign went beyond symbolism. It was during the 2000 election that Soros first experimented with raising campaign funds through Section 527 groups. In preparation for the 2000 election, Soros assembled a team of wealthy Democrat donors to help him push two of his pet issues -- gun control and marijuana legalization. Their donations greatly exceeded the limits on political contributions stipulated by campaign finance laws. Soros therefore laundered their contributions through Section 527 groups - dubbed "stealth PACs," by the media of that time.

As of August 2004, the husband-wife team of George and Susan Soros had contributed $13,120,000 to Shadow Party groups and operations, second only to Soros' longtime friend and collaborator, insurance mogul Peter Lewis ($14,175,000). The third leading donor was Jane Fonda ($13,085,750), followed by Hollywood producer Stephen Bing in fourth place ($9,869,014). Other major funders of the Shadow Party include the Tides Foundation and the Open Society Institute

During the 1990s, Soros had grown close to Bill and Hillary Clinton. In Hillary, Soros discovered an ideological soulmate. Mrs. Clinton shared his aversion to U.S. "hegemony." Like Soros, she sought to subordinate U.S. interests to global interests; U.S. sovereignty to global government; U.S. law to global courts; U.S. wealth to global taxation; and U.S. productivity to a scheme for global income redistribution. She also shared Soros' hostility to Israel. Soros and Mrs. Clinton formed a friendship based upon their mutual beliefs. When the Clintons left office, Soros dedicated himself to restoring Hillary to the White House.

At the heart of the American Shadow Party is the Center for American Progress (CAP). It was launched on July 7, 2003 as the American Majority Institute. The name was changed to Center for American Progress on September 1, 2003. The official purpose of the Center was to provide the left with a new think tank of its own.

Hillary Clinton tries to minimize the depth of her involvement with the Center for American Progress. But persistent press leaks confirm that she - and not its official President, John Podesta - has ultimate authority at CAP. "It's the official Hillary Clinton think tank," an inside source confided to Christian Bourge of United Press International. It's not completely wrong to see it as a shadow government, a kind of Clinton White-House-in-exile - or a White House staff in readiness for President Hillary Clinton."

To develop the Shadow Party as a cohesive entity, Harold Ickes undertook the task of building a 21st-century version of the Left's traditional alliance of the "oppressed," the disgruntled, and the "disenfranchised." He formed a coalition of pro-abortion activists, leftwing minority groups and leftwing labor unions. By the time Ickes was done, he had created or helped to create six new groups, and had co-opted a seventh called MoveOn.org. Together, they constitute the administrative core of the Shadow Party. They are: America Coming TogetherAmerica Votes; the Center for American ProgressJoint Victory Campaign 2004The Media FundMoveOn.org; and the Thunder Road Group.

The Thunder Road Group (TRG) is the strategic nerve center of the Shadow Party. Founded in early 2004 by Jim Jordan, an attorney with a long track record as a Democrat "spin doctor," it is headquartered at 888 Sixteenth Street NW in Washington, DC. It coordinates strategy for the Media Fund, America Coming Together (ACT), and America Votes, all of whom lease space in the same building. TRG is a political consultancy that combines the roles of strategic planning, polling, opposition research, covert operations, and public relations. It is through TRG that the Shadow Party formulates its plans, dispatches orders to the network, and presents its public face to the world. "[The Thunder Road Group] is an operation unlike any other in politics, devising strategy, message, and public relations services for the 527s," writes The Boston Globe.

In a November 11, 2003 interview with Laura Blumenfeld of the Washington Post, George Soros described how he had jump-started the Shadow Party in the summer of 2002. The Wall Street billionaire told how he summoned a team of political strategists, activists and Democrat donors to his Southampton beach house in Long Island. According to The Washington Post, attendees included: Morton H. Halperin (Director of Soros' Open Society Institute); John Podesta (Democrat strategist and former Clinton chief of staff); Carl Pope (ACT co-founder, Democrat strategist, environmentalist, and Sierra Club Executive Director); Steve Rosenthal (Labor leader, CEO of America Coming Together, former chief advisor on union matters to Clinton Labor Secretary Robert Reich, former Deputy Political Director under DNC chairman Ron Brown, and AFL-CIO Political Director from 1996 - 2002); Peter Lewis (major Democrat donor and insurance entrepreneur, and founder and chairman of Progressive Corporation); Rob Glaser (major Democrat donor and Silicon Valley pioneer); Ellen Malcolm (co-founder and president of ACT and founder of Emily's List); Rob McKay (major Democrat donor, Taco Bell heir, and McKay Family Foundation President; Lewis and Dorothy Cullman (major Democrat donors, and founders of the Lewis and Dorothy Cullman Foundation in New York).

At the 2002 meeting, Soros laid out his plan to defeat President Bush. He began implementing his plan even before the meeting had adjourned. Before coffee the next morning, Soros had secured pledges amounting to almost $27,000,000, and the Shadow Party was born.

New groups are constantly being formed in the Shadow Party, while others vanish. To determine how many groups exist in the Shadow Party at any given time is difficult. Even more daunting is trying to determine the purpose of each group. In some cases, groups seem to have no function other than to transfer funds from one 527 to another to obscure the money trail.

As of 2004, a partial list of Shadow Party groups included the following:

Air America Radio

America Coming Together

America Votes

AFL-CIO

Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN)

Association of Trial Lawyers of America

Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence

Health Care for America Now (HCAN)

Ordinarily, I would not have included this one as it is relatively new among the leftist groups. But, as the name implies, it has been created as an advocacy group to press for “Obamacare.”

What is Health Care for America Now (HCAN)? The following is from HCAN’s website:

“Health Care for America Now (HCAN) is a national grassroots campaign of more than 1,000 organizations in 46 states representing 30 million people dedicated to winning quality, affordable health care we all can count on in 2009. Our organization and principles are supported by President Obama, Vice President Biden, and more than 190 Members of Congress. [Ed note: that is reason enough to distrust this group.]

We are building a national movement to win comprehensive health care reform by helping mobilize people in their communities to lobby their U.S. Senators and Representatives in Congress to stand up to the insurance companies and other special interest groups to achieve quality, affordable health care in 2009.”

Our Steering Committee includes: ACORN, AFL-CIO, AFSCME, AFT, Americans United for Change, Campaign for America’s Future, Center for American Progress Action Fund, Campaign for Community Change, Children’s Defense Fund Action Council, Communications Workers of America, International Union, United Automobile, Aerospace & Agricultural Implement Workers of America (UAW), MoveOn.org, NAACP, National Council of La Raza, National Education Association, National Women’s Law Center, SEIU, UFCW, USAction, Women's Voices, Women's Vote and Working America.

Check out their “steering committee,” those like-minded groups form a who’s who of left-wing liberal organizations.

According to Michelle Malkin, HCAN was expected to march on Capitol Hill sometime this August. She notes that they won’t have to march very far since they’re headquartered at 1825 K Street in Washington, DC — smack dab in the middle of Beltway lobby land.

In fact, 1825 K Street is Ground Zero for a plethora of “progressive” groups subsidized by anti-war, anti-Republican, special interests. Around Washington, the office complex is known as “The Other K Street.”

The Washington Post noted in 2007 that “its most prominent tenants form an abbreviated who’s who of well-funded allies of the Democratic Party….Big money from unions such as the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, as well as the Internet-fueled MoveOn, has provided groups like those at 1825 K Street the wherewithal to mount huge campaigns.”

MoveOn, of course, is the recreational political vehicle of radical liberal sugar daddy George Soros. The magnate’s financial fingerprints are all over the HCAN coalition, which includes MoveOn, the action fund of the Center for American Progress (a Soros think tank), and the Campaign for America’s Future (a pro-welfare state lobbying outfit).

Indeed, HCAN includes all of the aforementioned groups, plus the AFL-CIO, ACORN and more. HCAN is conducting a joint campaign with Organizing for America (OFA), the Democratic National Committee-run vestiges of President Obama’s campaign. The astroturf has been on public display at events like Pres. Obama’s healthcare town hall meeting in Northern Virginia, where all of the live questions came from members of SEIU, HCAN, and OFA. Heading into the August recess, the White House and the Congressional Democratic Leadership are working in close coordination with outside groups, including but not limited to, HCAN, Families USA, AFSCME, SEIU, and AARP.

In July, Obama hosted a White House citizen town hall that featured three face-to-face questions. The lucky three? One was a member of HCAN, a second was a worker for the Virginia Organizing Project (which coordinates trips and forums with HCAN), and the third was a woman from SEIU. If they’re green and leafy, they must be plants, eh?

And these people like to call themselves “grassroots.” The more proper term (coined by democrat Lloyd Bensen of Texas in 1985) is “Astroturf.”

Some Comic Relief - I know I Needed It

If there’s one quick way to ruin an otherwise positive disposition, it’s reading about the groups, activities, methods, and goals of the left.

While working on the fourth installment of “Connecting the Dots,” I found that I needed to lighten up. Rummaging through my archives of funny stuff, I found a few bits that overcame (at least temporarily), the funk of morose unpleasantness orbiting around me and I laughed. Hallelujah! I’m born again!

See if these few lighthearted moments don’t improve your disposition – at least for a while.

And thanks to Mrs. AL for her contribution (you’ll have to guess which one it is).

 The Epstein Fart

Dr. Epstein was a renowned physician who earned his undergraduate, graduate, and medical degrees in his home town. He then moved to Manhattan, where he quickly rose to the top of his field.

 Soon he was invited to deliver a significant paper at a conference being held in his home town. Proudly, he walked on stage and placed his papers on the lectern, but they slid off onto the floor. As he bent over to retrieve them, at precisely the wrong instant, he let a loud fart escape.

The microphone amplified his flatulent explosion. It reverberated throughout the room and out into the hall. He was quite embarrassed, but somehow he regained his composure just enough to finish delivering his paper. He ignored their resounding applause and raced out the stage door, determined never to be seen in his home town again.

Decades later, when his elderly mother was ill, he returned to visit her. He reserved a hotel room under the name of Levy and arrived under cover of darkness.

The desk clerk asked him, "Is this your first visit to our city, Mr. Levy?"

Dr. Epstein replied, "Well, young man, no, it isn't. I grew up here and received my education here, but then I moved away."

Why haven't you visited?" asked the desk clerk.

"Actually, I did visit once, many years ago, but an embarrassing thing happened and since then I've been too ashamed to return."

The clerk consoled him. "Sir, while I don't have your life experience, one thing that I’ve learned is that often what seems embarrassing to me often isn’t even remembered by others. I’ll bet that’s true of your incident too.”

Dr. Epstein replied, "Son, I doubt that's the case with my incident."

"Was it a long time ago?"

"Yes, many years ago."

The clerk asked, "Was it before or after the Epstein Fart?"

Playing With Words

Here are the top dogs from an old Washington Post's Mensa Invitational, which again asked readers to take any word from the dictionary, alter it by adding, subtracting, or changing one letter, and supply a new definition.

The 2006 winners were:

1. Cashtration (n.): The act of buying (or building) a house, which renders the subject financially impotent for an indefinite period of time.

2. Ignoranus: A person who's both stupid and an a**hole.

3. Intaxication: Euphoria at getting a tax refund, which lasts until you realize that it was your money to start with.

4. Reintarnation: Coming back to life as a hillbilly.

5. Bozone (n.): The substance surrounding stupid people that stops bright ideas from penetrating. The bozone layer, unfortunately, shows little sign of breaking down in the near future.

6. Foreploy: Any misrepresentation about yourself for the purpose of getting laid.

7. Giraffiti: Vandalism spray-painted very, very high.

8. Sarchasm: The gulf between the author of sarcastic wit and the person who doesn't get it.

9. Inoculatte: To take coffee intravenously when you are running late.

10. Hipatitis: Terminal coolness.

11. Osteopornosis: A degenerate disease. (This one got extra credit.)

12. Karmageddon: It's when everybody is sending off all these really bad vibes, and then the Earth explodes and it's a serious bummer.

13. Decafalon: (n.): The grueling event of getting through the day consuming only things that are good for you.

14. Glibido: All talk and no action.

15. Dopeler Effect: The tendency of stupid ideas to seem smarter when they come at you rapidly. (sound familiar?)

16. Arachnoleptic Fit (n.): The frantic dance performed just after you've accidentally walked through a spider web.

17. Beelzebug (n.): Satan in the form of a mosquito, that gets into your bedroom at three in the morning and cannot be cast out.

18. Caterpallor (n.): The color you turn after finding half a worm in the fruit you're eating.

The Bar Test

A fellow walks into a bar, and notices a very large jar on the counter, and sees that it's filled to the brim with $10 bills. He guesses there must be more than ten thousand dollars in it. He approaches the bartender and asks, 'What's with the money in the jar?'

'Well... you pay $10 and if you pass three tests, you get all the money and the keys to a brand new Lexus.'

The man certainly isn't going to pass this up. And so he asks, 'What are the three tests?'

'You must pay first...Those are the rules,' says the bartender.

So, after thinking it over a while, the man gives the bartender the $10 and the bartender drops it into the jar.

'Okay,' the bartender says, 'Here's what you need to do:

First - You have to drink a whole quart of tequila, in a minute or less, and you can't make a face while doing it.

Second - There's a pit bull chained in the back with a bad tooth. You have to remove that tooth with your bare hands.

Third - There's a 90-year old lady upstairs who has never had sex. You have to have sex with her!'

The man is stunned.  'I know I paid my $10, but I'm not an idiot! I won't do it! You'd have to be nuts to drink a quart of tequila, and then do all those other things.'

'Your call,' says the bartender. 'But, your money stays where it is.'

As time goes on, and the man has a few more drinks, he finally says, 'Where's the damn tequila?'

He grabs the bottle with both hands and drinks it as fast as he can. Tears stream down both cheeks, but he doesn't make a face, and he did it in fifty-eight seconds!

Next, he staggers out the back door, where he sees the pit bull chained to a pole. Soon the people inside the bar hear growling, biting, and screaming sounds, then nothing but silence!

Just when they think that the man surely must be dead, he staggers back into the bar, with his shirt ripped open and there are scratches and he's bleeding all over his body.

He says, 'Now where's that old woman with the bad tooth?'

The moral to the story: Listen carefully to the directions, and don't trust your judgment when alcohol is involved!

This following one is NOT a joke, it acknowledges that our geezer vets are one of most potent weapons in America’s arsenal.

Vets over 60!

I am over 60 and the Armed Forces thinks I'm too old to track down terrorists. You can't be older than 42 to join the military.

They've got the whole thing backwards. Instead of sending 18-year olds off to fight, they ought to take us old guys. You shouldn't be able to join a military unit until you're at least 35.

For starters: Researchers say 18-year-olds think about sex every 10 seconds.

Old guys only think about sex a couple of times a day, leaving us more than 28,000 additional seconds per day to concentrate on the enemy.

Young guys haven't lived long enough to be cranky, and a cranky soldier is a dangerous soldier. 'My back hurts! I can't sleep, I'm tired and hungry' We are impatient and maybe letting us kill some a**hole that desperately deserves it will make us feel better and shut us up for a while.

An 18-year-old doesn't even like to get up before 10 a.m. Old guys always get up early to pee. Besides, like I said, 'I'm tired and can't sleep and since I'm already up, I may as well be up killing some fanatical person.

If captured we couldn't spill the beans because we'd forget where we put them. In fact, name, rank, and serial number would be a real stretch.

Boot camp would be easier for old guys. We're used to getting screamed and yelled at and we're used to soft food. We've also developed an appreciation for guns. We've been using them for years as an excuse to get out of the house, away from the screaming and yelling.

They could lighten up on the obstacle course however. I've been in combat and didn't see a single 20-foot wall with rope hanging over the side, nor did I ever do any pushups after completing basic training.

Actually, the running part is kind of a waste of energy, too. I've never seen anyone outrun a bullet.

An 18-year-old has the whole world ahead of him. He's still learning to shave, to start up a conversation with a pretty girl. He still hasn't figured out that a baseball cap has a brim to shade his eyes, not the back of his head.

These are all great reasons to keep our kids at home to learn a little more about life before sending them off into harm's way.

Let us old guys track down those dirty rotten coward terrorists. The last thing an enemy would want to see is a couple of million mad old farts with attitudes and automatic weapons who know that their best years are already behind them.

***How about recruiting Women over 50 ....with MENOPAUSE !!! You think Men have attitudes !!! Ohhhhhhhhhhhh my Lord!!! If nothing else, put them on border patrol.....we will have it secured the first night!

We the Pawns

When did we stop being “We the People” and become “we the pawns”? Or maybe it should be “we the patsies,” or “we the marks”?

We (the People) elect 536 representatives to conduct the business of our United States, 435 members of the House, 100 Senators, and a President. They represent us, the 300,000,000 citizens of America.

We hired them – they’re supposed to work for us. Shouldn’t they answer to us when things go wrong? Looked at your 401(k) lately? What about the value of your home? Laid off or out of a job?

Aren’t things wrong enough now to take action?

The OMB recently revised the deficit figure, which now is expected to surpass $1,800,000,000,000 (that’s TRILLIONS, friends and neighbors). How’d we get here? Did YOU screw something up? Or was it ME? Nope, not even Hugo Chavez or Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. They didn’t do it … our own representatives did it.

Isn’t it high time that we review the job performance of our representatives? From Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid on down to the rookies in Congress. It is time to objectively assess the job they’ve done. Remember 2006 when the democrats were swept into a majority in Congress?

“The days of the do-nothing Congress are over,” declared Democrat Sen. Harry Reid of Nevada, adding that Americans spoke “clearly and decisively in favor of Democrats leading this country in a new direction.”

Well, Harry was right about one thing – the democrats have been anything but “do nothing.” The problem is, a few more years of their “new direction” will turn the United States into a Socialist state and bankrupt it at the same time.

On election day, November, 2008, only 17%of poll respondents approved of Congress’ job, 74% disapproved. That was TWO YEARS after Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, et al were given their opportunity to make things better. They didn’t – practically everything they did has made life in America more difficult.

Now, after the public opted to give them yet another chance in 2009, the approval numbers are falling again. Now, only 30% approve of the job being done by congress and 60% disapprove. This only points out that it’s time that we the people ask questions of our representatives. For example:

Have you noticed that every election, the politicians tell us that they are going to pay for [fill in blank] by correcting inefficiencies in the [fill in blank] system. Have they EVER made ANYTHING more efficient? Have any cost savings EVER resulted? We need to ignore any “anticipated cost savings” in ANYTHING they propose – it ain’t gonna happen.

If both Democrats and Republicans are against deficits, WHY do we have deficits amounting to $1.8 Trillion dollars?

Have you ever wondered, if all of the politicians are against high taxes, WHY do we have high taxes now, with even higher taxes to come?

You and I don’t have the authority to vote on appropriations and spending, the House of Representatives does.

We don’t write the tax code, Congress does.

We don’t set fiscal policy, Congress does.

You and I don’t propose a federal budget, the President does.

Why does Congress exempt themselves from legislation that affects other citizens? The “healthcare” bill is a perfect example. If the healthcare that you’re pushing on us is good enough for the rest of the country, then By God, it is good enough for Congress.

Who is to blame for the $787,000,000,000 “economic stimulus” bill that isn’t working. THEM is to blame, US will pay for it. What about the “Cap and Trade” bill? And have you heard about the “America’s Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009?” Does it sound like Congress is spending OUR money wisely?

What kind of ‘bang” are we getting for our buck – our taxes? How can Congress expect we the people to sit idly by and accept spending BILLIONS of OUR money without even reading the bill specifying how OUR money will be spent?

If congresspersons won’t read bills spending BILLIONS of OUR money, that is prima facie evidence of several things:

  • They are NOT doing the job for which they were elected
  • The bills are purposely too complex to understand
  • The resultant laws will be too complex to work and unintended consequences will be rampant
  • The complexity and excessive length of bills provide easy ways to hide pork spending and political payoffs from public scrutiny
  • The complexity, length, and speed of passage of bills removes any chance for the public to know what congress is spending OUR money on
  • We can no longer trust our representatives to HONESTLY tell us how and why they’re spending OUR money. Lies, misdirection and obfuscation have become tools of their trade for our representatives in Washington, DC.

Seems to me that those who are tasked with managing our federal government have been looking out for themselves and their political party – not for we the people. Reelection, retaining power is their raison d'être. They have not taken seriously their responsibility to be careful stewards of OUR funds.

We cannot allow this political ponzi scheme to continue. How many times have our “representatives” sold us on a plan that will benefit us today but will be paid for by our children? Plans that are supposed to fix the problems INITIALLY CREATED by those same 536 “representatives”? We are being played for fools. We have become patsies and marks. We have been hustled. But even worse, our children and grandchildren are being saddled with an unmanageable level of debt and an increasingly shrinking level of freedom. Is this the legacy that we want to leave our children?

We have a great deal of history on many of our members of Congress. For a lot of them, it’s the only job they’ve ever held. Eighty-seven members of congress have been in their job for over twenty years. These are the very individuals who bear the most responsibility for the nation’s woes. They’re in a position to control legislation; they hold leadership positions in Congress. The majority of them couldn’t manage a donut store. How’s their “leadership” working out for us?

“With a median net worth of $746,000, most members of Congress have a comfortable financial cushion to ride out any recession,” said Sheila Krumholz, executive director of the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics, which conducted a study on congressional pay. The 535 members of Congress, who earn average annual salaries of $169,000 (now $174,000), had a total net worth of $3.7 billion in 2007. Their average net worth soared by 61 percent from 2004 to 2007. DID YOURS? Median net worth for senators was $1.7 million. "Obama ranked as one of the biggest financial winners, with his net worth increasing from $800,000 in 2006 to $4.7 million in 2007, thanks mainly to royalties from his two best-selling books.

The point is, these people that we elect are given positions of power; most of them live a life of privilege and most of them become wealthy. They have lost touch with ordinary Americans and the things that affect our everyday life. They are “the elite” and they act like it.

And what are we receiving in return for their pampering? Scorn and deceit.

Their fingerprints and DNA are all over the failed policies, the excessive spending, the political payoffs to campaign contributors, etc. They have PROVEN that they cannot or will not be efficient managers of OUR MONEY. Are we the people stupid enough to let this rush to oblivion continue without abatement? Are we supposed to wait until recovery is impossible?

The status quo is simply strangling our country. We need a transfusion – a transfusion of new representation. Please note that my solution is not a partisan one. Regardless of political party, most have proven that they cannot be trusted with OUR money.

It is time to … THROW THE BUMS OUT.

Note: Some of the above “borrowed” from a piece by Charlie Reese, titled “Whose Fault is It?” and some from “ProgressiveDem.”

Gather All Ye Birthers

There was a time, not long ago, when my faith was shaken. I became concerned that there would never be a factually accurate resolution to the “birth certificate” brouhaha. Obviously, I am a skeptic and I really worry that Obama will ride off into the sunset having fooled American citizens. The few real facts that we know, coupled with Obama’s absolute refusal to release personal documents that the American public has a right to see, requires me to be skeptical. True, there may not be a legal requirement to show his records, but there certainly is a moral one on Obama’s part. “The most transparent administration ever,” my arse.

But over the past several days, it is beginning to look like the issue isn’t going to die a quiet death. There is major “buzz” across the Internet and some TV news programs have recognized that the issue does exist. Even the obsolete media (formally known as “newspapers” and “magazines”) are at least mentioning it. The conservative talk shows are banging the drum relentlessly and the “Where’s the Birth Certificate” movement is building momentum.

My perception was that the references to Obama’s BC issue were more numerous in recent days.

To quantify the level of exposure being enjoyed by the BC issue, I decided to do an informal survey of websites to see if my perception was accurate, so here’s what I did:

I visited Fox, CBS, MSNBC, and ABC among the “mainstream” news sites. I also visited Internet political sites, including: Hot Air, Drudge, RealClearPolitics (RCP), Newsmax, Politico, Breitbart, and Michelle Malkin. I also checked on the lefty sites Huffington Post and DailyKos.

I purposely excluded WorldNetDaily since they are the prime mover of the issue and the numerous articles there would skew the results.

I found 26 articles that had a reference to the birth certificate issue in the title. That was my only criteria for counting a “hit.” I only counted items referenced on the main (home) page of the site and didn’t click down into any of the articles looking for additional references.

Only three sites contained no reference to the issue, they were: Michelle Malkins, RCP, and MSNBC. The sites with the most articles were Drudge, Breitbart, and Huffington Post.

While it is undeniable that my survey was informal and unscientific, it does show that there is interest in the issue. At least it establishes a baseline against which we can measure an increase or decrease in exposure in the coming weeks. Wish I’d done this months ago.

There is little reason to include television or radio references. It is too time-consuming to test the network TV news sites and I know what I hear from Rush, Hannity, Levin, Davis, Ingraham, etc. on talk radio.

Obama had best consider the old political adage: “It’s not the crime, it’s the cover-up” that brings the most grief to a politician.

The plot thickens.

Here’s an update from the HonoluluAdvertiser.com as of Monday the 27th:

Hawai’i's Health Department confirmed yesterday that it has President Obama's original Aug. 4, 1961, birth certificate in storage, but the announcement is unlikely to satisfy conspiracy theorists who insist Obama was born in Kenya. "We don't destroy vital records," Health Department spokeswoman Janice Okubo said. "That's our whole job, to maintain and retain vital records."

The Health Department's director reiterated yesterday that she has seen Obama's birth records.

 "I, Dr. Chiyome Fukino, director of the Hawai'i State Department of Health, have seen the original vital records maintained on file by the Hawai'i State Department of Health verifying Barack Hussein Obama was born in Hawai'i and is a natural-born American citizen," Fukino said in a statement. "I have nothing further to add to this statement or my original statement issued in October 2008, over eight months ago."

This was a more definite statement than the one Dr. Fukino made in October. This time, she states that she has seen the birth certificate and it verifies that Obama was born in Hawai’i. Previously, she had only said that she had seen his “original” birth certificate – with no mention of its origin – or his.

While the doctor’s statement does take some wind from our (birthers) sail, color me unconvinced. I can’t get past the fact that Obama is still using teams of attorneys to prevent the public from seeing his background records – why? To paraphrase, there’s a “skeleton in the woodpile” somewhere.

There is still a nauseous smell in the air, and it’s still coming from Obama.

More Flatulence from CNN

CNN's president, Jon Klein told staffers of Lou Dobbs Tonight that the controversy regarding the legitimacy of Mr. Obama's birth certificate now appeared to be a "dead" story.

In an email, he said that CNN researchers had determined that Hawaiian officials discarded paper documents in 2001. Because of that, Obama's long-form birth certificate no longer exists and the shorter certificate of live birth that has been made public is the sole official record.

[This brief pause for a “WTF?” moment]

State officials destroyed original legal documents? At least they would have scanned or microfiched the documents, wouldn’t any competent document handler? Would any government be so inept as to actually destroy legal papers like birth certificates, leaving only an abbreviated variation – a variation that doesn’t even contain all of the data that was resident on the hard-copy original. I find that impossible to believe, not even Chicago politicians would do anything that stupid.

But apparently Mr. Klein is wrong. Here is a statement from Hawaii Dept. of Health Director Dr. Chiyome Fukino, issued on October 31, 2008:

“I as Director of Health for the State of Hawai‘i, along with the Registrar of Vital Statistics who has statutory authority to oversee and maintain these type of vital records, have personally seen and verified that the Hawaii State Department of Health has Sen. Obama’s original birth certificate on record in accordance with state policies and procedures," Fukino said.

Fukino said she and the registrar of vital statistics, Alvin Onaka, have personally verified that the health department holds Obama's original birth certificate. Oh? The one that CNN says was destroyed?

Note that she refers to Obama’s “original” birth certificate (note that she didn’t say that they’d seen Obama’s “Hawaii” birth certificate, only the “original” birth certificate). Ever since Bill Clinton, I’ve learned to parse bureaucrat’s words for how they could be interpreted. If the birth certificate was from Kenya (or anywhere else, for that matter), Director Fukino’s statement would still be true, wouldn’t it? Why didn’t she refer to a Hawaii birth certificate? Her statement would be interpreted by Obama supporters as referring to a Hawaii document – but she didn’t say that, did she?

Now, if the original hard-copy certificate had been destroyed in 2001, what did the Director and the Registrar see? If all that remains is a digital image of the Certification of Live Birth, why would Obama spend close to a million dollars hiding something that has already been released?

Something stinks in Hawaii and it ain’t week-old poi.

Connect the Dots: (3) ACORN

Connect the Dots: (3) ACORN

A note from Garnet92: all parts of this series of articles are long. It’s unfortunate, but necessary. The posts could easily be much longer since there is that much worthwhile information available. I have tried to pare the voluminous data down to the most salient points, but some will feel that there is simply too much to read and skip these pieces. In that case, so be it. However, to those who really want to be informed, you will not get the complete picture without expending some effort.

This is the third in a series of articles exposing some little known information about the inner workings of our opposition – the liberal left. In the first two articles, Pesky Truth presented the most influential individuals  and the funding sources (foundations, etc.) that provide the money to the actual working organizations.

This piece will highlight ACORN, one of the organizations that supports liberal causes, the source(s) of their funds, and some of the activities that identify this organization.

Remember that the players are highlighted in bold RED, the funds, organizations, or groups are highlighted in bold BLUE, and big bucks they throw around are in bold GREEN.

ACORN (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now)

The Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) is a grassroots political organization that grew out of George Wiley's National Welfare Rights Organization (NWRO), whose members in the late 1960s and early 1970s invaded welfare offices across the U.S. - often violently - bullying social workers and loudly demanding every penny to which the law "entitled" them.

Wiley (who was best known for his effective use of the so-called "Cloward-Piven strategy") and Gary Delgado (a lead organizer for Wiley's NWRO) formed the new entity along with Wade Rathke. It would come to be known as ACORN.

In the late Sixties, ACORN co-founder Wade Rathke was an NWRO organizer and a protégé of Wiley. Rathke also organized a draft-resistance campaign for the militant group Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) during the same period.

In the early Seventies, Wade Rathke and his ACORN co-founders enlisted civil-rights workers and trained them in a program (at Syracuse University) patterned after Saul Alinsky's activist tactics.

In addition to operating its 1,200 chapters in the U.S., ACORN owns two radio stations, a housing corporation, and a law office. It also runs schools in New York City and a network of “boot camps” where street activists are trained in operations to extort contributions from banks and other businesses under threat of racial violence and trumped-up civil-rights charges.

[Ed. Note: Pesky Truth predicts that this extortion technique will someday come to be known as Jackson-Sharpton strategy.]

ACORN’s operation and funding sources.

Since ACORN is a private corporation, it is not required to divulge its finances. Complicating any effort to calculate ACORN's income is the fact that the organization operates an enormous number of front groups, many of which conceal their relationship to ACORN. As of October 2008, there wereat least 294 front groups, nonprofits, and businesses related to ACORN, the vast majority of which listed their headquarters as: 1024 Elysian Fields Avenue in New Orleans, Louisiana -- the site of a now-defunct funeral home.

But we can gain some idea of ACORN's revenues by multiplying the organization's claimed 400,000+ member families by the $120 annual membership fee, which yields a total of approximately $48 million. According to ACORN's website, "Membership dues and a host of grassroots and chapter-based fundraising programs pay for 70 to 75 percent of the entire organization's budget." If that is the case, ACORN's annual revenues are at least $64 million. Some of those revenues come in the form of taxpayer dollars furnished by the federal government: Between 1994 and 2008, ACORN received a total of $53 million in federal funds earmarked for so-called "community organizations."

In addition to membership fees and government grants, ACORN (and its partner group the ACORN Institute) also have received large donations from a number of charitable foundations, including but not limited to (this is a partial list only):

Democracy Alliance
JP Morgan Chase Foundation
Open Society Institute
Provident Bank Foundation
Roseanne [Barr] Foundation
Starbucks Foundation
Tides Foundation
Union Bank of California Foundation
US Bancorp Foundation
Wachovia Foundation

Note: not all listings contain hyperlinks

With the massive funding available to them, it should come as no surprise that ACORN has become the largest grassroots community organization (read: radical group) in America. Here are a few pertinent facts about ACORN’s interests:

·         ACORN has been implicated in numerous reports of fraudulent voter registration, vote-rigging, voter intimidation, and vote-for-pay scams during recent election cycles

·         They pressure banks to lend money to under-qualified minority borrowers

·         They maintain close ties to organized labor

·         They oppose capitalism

·         They call for more government control over citizens and the economy

·         They favor a government monopoly in healthcare

·         They advocate an open-door immigration policy.

Foundation Watch editor Matthew Vadum explains specifically what ACORN has done ever since its inception.

"ACORN organizes crude protests against businesspeople and public officials. Opposed to the profit motive and capitalism in general, it pushes for more government control over citizens and the economy. ACORN supports gun control, a government monopoly in healthcare and an open door immigration policy. It supports a big raise in the federal minimum wage and so-called 'living-wage' laws enacted by states and cities. ACORN wants more funding for urban public schools, and wants federal and state laws enacted guaranteeing paid sick leave for all full-time workers. The group claims to fight for affordable housing and it rails against foreclosures and so-called 'predatory' lending, even though it demands that banks make loans [to under-qualified borrowers] destined to default."

Can you imagine what we can expect from ACORN if they “hit the jackpot?” The jury is still out on how much of the $5 to 8.5 billion included in the “Porkulus” bill for “Neighborhood Stabilization Programs” they’ll get.

ACORN spokesperson Bertha Lewis said, “We watch with bemusement as he (Sen. David Vitter, R-La) tries to gin up opposition to progressive solutions to America's deep economic crisis by accusing ACORN of doing something we have never done. We have not received neighborhood stabilization funds, have no plans to apply for such funds, and didn't weigh in on the pending rule changes."

However, sister organization ACORN Housing Corp. HAS developed housing in several cities, and HAS received federal funds. "We theoretically could apply," said Richard Hayes, director of strategic projects for ACORN Housing. "But we would have to compete like everyone else. There is no guarantee we would be chosen." Right.

While that statement may be true, with between 5 and 8.5 BILLION dollars available to “Neighborhood Stabilization Organizations (NSOs),” is it folly to expect ACORN Housing Corp. or one of ACORN’s other 293 entities to get in line with a hand held out? I think not.

ACORN notes on its own website that, “through the ACORN Housing Corporation, first time homeowner mortgage counseling and foreclosure prevention assistance, and low income housing development has benefited its members and constituency.” That would seem to fit the definition of what Congress wanted to encourage with the NSO funding, no?

Housing activism has been a major priority for ACORN, which has formed housing collectives in a host of targeted areas. These collectives pressure local authorities to place them (the collectives) in charge of renovating and managing abandoned or dilapidated properties for poor tenants. In turn, the local authorities provide money for renovation - much of which ends up in ACORN bank accounts.

ACORN’s employment practices.

 When it comes to paying their own workers “living wages” and union organizing, hypocrisy is spelled A, C, O, R, N.

In 1995, ACORN's California chapter went to court seeking an exemption from having to pay its workers the state minimum, at the time $4.25 an hour. The group lost.

"A 2003 study of ACORN by the Employment Policies Institute found the group paid a wage of $5.67 per hour, which was 'less than half the level demanded by many proposed living-wage ordinances that ACORN supported.'”

Although it demands all workers be allowed to organize unions, ACORN doesn't like it when its own workers try to organize. It has tried to block its own employees from signing up with unions, and in 2003, the National Labor Relations Board determined it had unlawfully blocked its workers from organizing.

In many respects, ACORN is like our U.S. Congress where the byword is “do as I say, not as I do – it’s ok for me, but not for you.”

[Ed. Note: Based on our extensive research, we have been unable to determine which body is more trustworthy, ACORN or Congress. Our recommendation is not to trust either entity.]

ACORN’s voter registration operation.

According to their website, since 2004, ACORN has helped more than 1.7 million low-and moderate-income and minority citizens apply to register to vote. During the 2008 election cycle, ACORN registered, by their own count, 1,300,000 people in 26 states.

These impressive numbers are tarnished, however, by the fact that ACORN and its affiliates (most notably Project Vote, which is ACORN's voter-mobilization arm) have engaged in massive campaigns of voter-registration fraud.

Although our research found thirty-one specific instances where ACORN was accused of wrongdoing related to voting registrations, here are just a few egregious examples:

·         In 2008 in Indianapolis (where ACORN was very active), the number of registered voters exceeded the official population of voting-age adults by 33,204.

·         In Lake County, Indiana, ACORN submitted 5,000 voter-registration applications in early October 2008. Of the first 2,100 that were analyzed by election officials, every single one was fraudulent. "All the signatures looked exactly the same," said Republican election official Ruthann Hoagland. "Everything on the card filled out looks exactly the same." Hoagland's Democratic colleague, Sally LaSota, concurred: "We're not handwriting experts, but what's obvious is obvious." The fake registrants included dead people and under-age children.

·         Between March 23 and October 1, 2008, ACORN and other "get-out-the-vote" groups submitted at least 252,595 registrations to the Philadelphia County Election Board; of those, 57,435 (23%) were rejected for faulty information. Most of the fraudulent forms - which featured fake social security numbers, incorrect birthdates, forged or duplicate signatures, and non-existent addresses - were submitted by ACORN.

·         In 2008 in Clark County, Nevada, registrar of voters Larry Lomax told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that ACORN was submitting 2,000 to 3,000 fraudulent applications per week.

·         In Oakland County, Michigan in 2008, election officials discovered more than 33,000 duplicate voter-registration applications, most of which had been submitted by ACORN workers.

In 2008, election officials in several states said that fully half of ACORN voter registrations were fraudulent. As of December of that year, ACORN was under investigation for voter-registration fraud in 15 states.

The American Thinker has observed that "ACORN's voter rights tactics follow the Cloward-Piven Strategy" by employing the following techniques:

1. Register as many
Democrat voters as possible, legal or otherwise, and help them vote, multiple times if possible.

2. Overwhelm the system with fraudulent registrations using multiple entries of the same name, names of deceased, random names from the phone book, even contrived names.

3. Make the system difficult to police by lobbying for minimal identification standards.

In November 2008, investigative reporter
Matthew Vadum observed that"ACORN always resists accepting blame for the systemic electoral fraud that is its forte. It's never their fault. Not surprisingly, the group said [in October 2008] that rogue operators - not ACORN officials  - were responsible for the invalid voter registrations. ACORN said it had to fire 829 of the 10,000 canvassers it hired during the 2008 election for problems such as falsifying registration forms."

So, ACORN threw 829 canvassers under the bus that was carrying 1,300,000
democrat voter registrations to election officials. That’s just an acceptable “cost of doing business” – in the ACORN playbook.

ACORN asks, “Can Fannie and Freddy come out to play?”

In 1977, Congress passed the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA). Signed into law by President Jimmy Carter, the act was supposed to reduce supposed discriminatory credit practices (“redlining”) by the banking and saving institutions.

The CRA required banks to extend credit to undercapitalized, high-risk borrowers in low-income, mostly-minority areas.

To enforce the statute, federal regulatory agencies examine banking institutions for CRA compliance, and take this information into consideration when approving applications for new bank branches or for mergers or acquisitions.

Under CRA guidelines, any bank wishing to expand or to merge with another financial institution would be required to first demonstrate that it had complied with all CRA rules. Final approval for expansions or mergers could be stalled, or derailed entirely, if "community groups" like ACORN were to accuse a bank - however frivolously or unjustly - of having violated the mandates of CRA.

In the early 1990s, ACORN, thus empowered by the CRA, insisted that banks demonstrate their commitment to minority lending by drastically lowering their standards on down-payments and underwriting, and by making loans even to borrowers - especially nonwhite minorities - with bad credit histories. If banks expressed reluctance to do so, ACORN intimidated them into compliance by threatening to sue them, to smear them in the media with negative-publicity campaigns (accusing them of racist and anti-immigrant lending practices), and to block any mergers which the banks might seek in the future.

In response, terrified bank executives routinely agreed to appoint ACORN as their official "advisor" on CRA compliance, thereby giving the group carte blanche to channel loans to its own hand-picked recipients.

By September 1992, ACORN was issuing fact sheets broadcasting its success in having forced lenders to lower their credit standards on behalf of minorities. Ultimately, ACORN proudly claimed "credit for saving the CRA."

The New York Post explained what happened next:

"As ACORN ran its campaigns against local banks, it quickly hit a roadblock. Banks would tell ACORN they could afford to reduce their credit standards by only a little - since Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the federal mortgage giants, refused to buy up those risky loans for sale on the 'secondary market.'"

“By itself, the
CRA wasn't enough. Unless Fannie and Freddie were willing to relax their credit standards as well, local banks would never make home loans to customers with bad credit histories or with too little money for a down-payment.”

"So
ACORN's Democrat friends in Congress moved to force Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to dispense with normal credit standards. Throughout the early '90s, they imposed ever-increasing subprime-lending quotas on Fannie and Freddie…."

"
ACORN's intimidation tactics, and its alliance with Democrats in Congress, triumphed. Despite their 1994 takeover of Congress, Republicans' attempts to pare back the CRA were stymied."

"In June 1995, the Clinton administration announced a comprehensive strategy to push homeownership in America to new heights - regardless of the compromise in credit standards that the task would require. Fannie and Freddie were assigned massive subprime lending quotas, which would rise to about half of their total business by the end of the decade."

This strengthening of the CRA's loan mandates, coupled with the authority that ACORN and other "community organizations" were given to intervene at yearly bank reviews, placed ACORN and likeminded activist groups in a position of great influence.

Banks, eager to receive good reports from these groups (in order to avoid having their merger plans blocked or their lending practices challenged by the Justice Department), funneled immense sums of money to ACORN, et al.  As the New York Post puts it, "intimidation tactics, public charges of racism and threats to use CRA to block business expansion have enabled ACORN to extract (extort) hundreds of millions of dollars in loans and contributions from America's financial institutions."

One financial-industry consultant explains, with resignation: "The banks know they are being held up, but they are not going to fight over this. They look at it as a cost of doing business."

Robert L. Woodson, president of the National Center for Neighborhood Enterprise (a community-action group that calls for individual responsibility rather than reliance on government handouts), puts it this way: "ACORN knows that corporate America has no starch in their shorts and, therefore, what they try to do is buy peace from groups that agitate against them. The same corporations that pay ransom to Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton pay ransom to ACORN."

President Bush publicly called for GSE (Government Sponsored Entity, which includes Fannie and Freddie) reform 17 times in 2008 alone before Congress acted.  Unfortunately, these warnings went unheeded, as the President’s repeated attempts to reform the supervision of these entities were thwarted by the legislative maneuvering of those who emphatically denied there were problems.

In fact, in a late 2004 Congressional hearing into Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, Congress and the American taxpayers were told that “We do not have a crisis at Fannie or Freddie,” “There was nothing wrong,” and “Everything has worked just fine.” Representatives Maxine Waters, Gregory Meeks, Lacy Clay, and Artur Davis (all Congressional Black Caucus members) joined with Barney Frank to maintain that all was well with Fannie and Freddie and also to sing the praises of Franklin Raines, the Chairman and CEO of Fannie Mae who was paid more than $50,000,000 from 1999 through 2004 for his “outstanding leadership.” Here’s a link to the hearing if you’re interested.

So, while ACORN wasn’t mentioned by name during the hearing video, their fingerprints (along with their enablers, the democrats in general, and the Congressional Black Caucus in particular) were all over the subprime mortgage crisis that brought down Fannie and Freddie.

The ACORN doesn’t fall far from Obama

Obama had extensive experience as a community organizer. In the 80s, he was the lead organizer of the Developing Communities Project (DCP), a campaign funded by Chicago’s south-side Catholic churches and formed on the organizing principles of Saul Alinsky. He spent another four years building an organization in Roseland and the nearby Altgeld Gardens public housing complex.

Alinsky
taught that worldly power has two forms - money and people - the organizer’s rule of “follow the money” is to be taken seriously. Where do the Alinskyian networks get their people and money? Primarily from religious institutions.

Obama
has stated that while working as an organizer for the DCP, some pastors suggested that he would be more effective if he were a member of a church. So, as we all now know, he chose Reverend Jeremiah Wright’s Trinity United Church of Christ.

Barack Obama
had very close ties to the head of Chicago ACORN, Madeline Talbot. Obama was selected by Talbot when he was still a wet-behind-the-ears organizer. She recognized his abilities, and asked him to train her personal staff in the Alinsky organizing techniques.

Before going off to law school in the early 90s,
Obama padded his resume by heading up ACORN’s partner organization, Project Vote. Recruiting staff and volunteers from community groups and black churches, he helped train 700 deputy registrars and devised a comprehensive media campaign based on the slogan "It's a Power Thing." His volunteers hit the streets and registered more than 150,000 black voters in only six months. Those votes made it possible for Carol Moseley Braun to win her Senate race that year.

When he came back to Chicago from law school and Madeline Talbot was beginning her intimidation campaign against banks, she enlisted Barack Obama to train her Chicago ACORN organizing leaders in the Alinsky methods.

Toni Foulkes, Chicago ACORN leader, and member of ACORN's National Association Board said of Obama’s successful Project Vote experience, “Since then, we have invited Obama to our leadership training sessions to run the session on power every year, and as a result, many of our newly developing leaders got to know him before he ever ran for office. Thus, it was natural for many of us to be active volunteers in his first campaign for State Senate and then his failed bid for U.S. Congress... By the time he ran for U.S. Senate, we were old friends. "

In 1995, Mr. Obama was on a team of lawyers that represented Acorn in a lawsuit (known as "motor voter") to compel Illinois to comply with federal laws intended to enhance access to the polls. As part of their legal team, Mr. Obama had “an intimate relationship” with Acorn through their suit “against the State of Illinois and the federal government.”

Obama was on the board of directors for the Woods Fund from 1999 through 2002. It is notable that ACORN was awarded grants totaling $190,000 in the years 2000 through 2002 alone.

During the 2008 primaries, his campaign paid an ACORN affiliate called Citizen’s Services $832,386 for “stage and lighting equipment rental” and get-out-the-vote efforts. Citizen’s Services shares offices with ACORN in New Orleans – but, we’re told that there is no linkage between the groups. Right.

Meeting with ACORN leaders in November, 2008, he reminded them that, “I’ve been fighting alongside ACORN on issues you care about my entire career. Even before I was an elected official, when I ran Project Vote voter registration drive in Illinois, ACORN was smack dab in the middle of it, and we appreciate your work.”

But, Obama now says that he is in no way, shape, form or fashion linked to ACORN.

Right.

This post does beg the question: If ACORN were such a helpful, charitable and worthwhile organization, why does everyone distance themselves from it?

Self-centered, Selfish, Unappreciative Ingrates

This is just a short rant that bubbled up as I read about B. Hussein Obama, George Soros, Peter Lewis, Steven Bing, and so many other wealthy people who, now that they’ve become successful, want to dismantle the capitalistic system that allowed (even helped) them to become rich and powerful.

Why is that?

Is it an ego trip? Could it be that they don’t want any additional “rich people” to compete with them? Do they simply want to remain as one of a small percent who achieved success? Or, are they simply so far above we ordinary folks that they deserve their own country (made in their image)?

In the end, it really doesn’t matter what their reason is – they are still hell-bent on trashing the very capitalistic tenets that they embraced, that enabled them to succeed – until they reached the top.

Doesn’t it just make you want to puke, that these ungrateful S.O.B.s aren’t supportive and thankful that they were given the opportunities that America provides? Suppose they had grown up in Hungary, or Iran, or Kenya?

And I’ve only named a few … there are (at least) hundreds, perhaps thousands of millionaires and billionaires who are supporting the liberal left agenda that will destroy the goose that laid their golden egg.

Don't do anything to support these people - they aren't doing anything to support you.

Connect the Dots: (2) The Funds

A note from Garnet92: all parts of this series of articles are long. It’s unfortunate, but necessary. The posts could easily be much longer since there is that much worthwhile information available. I have tried to pare the voluminous data down to the most salient points, but some will feel that there is simply too much to read and skip these pieces. In that case, So be it. But to those who really want to be informed, you won’t get the complete picture without expending some effort.

This is the second in a series of articles exposing some little known information about the inner workings of our opposition – the liberal left. In the first post, Pesky Truth presented four of the most influential individuals among those who fund the leftist groups.

This piece will highlight four of the organizations that fund liberal causes, the source(s) of their funds, and some of the interrelationships that are designed to insulate donors from the far left causes that they choose to support..

Remember that the players are highlighted in bold RED, the funds, organizations, or groups are highlighted in bold BLUE, and big bucks they throw around are in bold GREEN.

The Ford Foundation

The Ford Foundation? That may come as a surprise to you; it did to me. But based on the value of their assets and the value of grants awarded, they dwarf the competition.

The Ford Foundation was chartered on January 15, 1936 by Edsel Ford and two Ford Motor Company executives "to receive and administer funds for scientific, educational and charitable purposes, all for the public welfare."

After the deaths of Edsel Ford in 1943 and his father Henry Ford four years later, Henry Ford II (Edsel's son and Henry's grandson) assumed leadership of the Foundation's Board of Trustees.

When Henry Ford II eventually resigned from the Foundation's Board of Trustees in 1977, he expressed his profound disgust with how the institution and most of its trustees had drifted so radically to the political left over time.

The degree to which the Ford Foundation's values and ideals have continued to move leftward since Henry Ford II wrote his resignation letter is reflected in the objectives and worldviews of the organizations it currently supports.

These objectives and worldviews include:

·        The weakening of homeland security and anti-terrorism measures on the theory that they constitute unacceptable assaults on civil liberties
·         The dissolution of American borders
·         The promotion of mass, unchecked immigration to the United States
·         The redistribution of wealth
·         The blaming of America for virtually every conceivable international dispute
·         The depiction of Israel as an oppressor state that routinely victimizes its Palestinian minority
·         The weakening of American military capabilities
·         A devotion to the principle of preferences based on race, ethnicity, gender, and a host of other demographic attributes
·         The condemnation of the U.S. as a racist, sexist nation that discriminates against minorities and women
·         The characterization of America as an unrepentant polluter whose industrial pursuits cause immense harm to the natural environment
·         The portrayal of the U.S. as a violator of human rights both at home and abroad
·         The depiction of America as an aggressively militaristic nation, and
·         Support for taxpayer-funded abortion-on-demand as an inalienable right for all women.

All are consistently far left positions on the issues.

With Assets of $11,615,906,693 (2005) and grants totaling $511,847,276 (in 2005), the Foundation  contributes to literally hundreds of causes.

A small sampling of Ford Foundation donees include:

·         Brookings Institution
·         Carter Center
·         Environmental Defense Fund
·         Human Rights Watch
·         Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Community Center
·         Lesbian and Gay Immigration Rights Task Force
·         National Association for the Advancement of Colored People Legal Defense & Education Fund
·         Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund (MALDEF)
·         National Council of La Raza
·         National Lawyers Guild
·         National Public Radio
·         National Wildlife Federation
·         People for the American Way
·         Planned Parenthood
·         Tides Center
·         Tides Foundation
·         Urban Institute
·         Union of Concerned Scientists

Note: not all listings contain hyperlinks

Some notable contributions by the Foundation are $7 million to the ACLU and $25 million to the Mexican American Legal and Education Fund (MALDEF).

The Ford Foundation also gives large sums to fund various projects, programs, and academic departments in universities across the United States. The Foundation contributes funds for studies primarily in the areas of: black history, ethnicity, feminism and women’s studies, Islamic studies, poverty and diversity.

Open Society Institute (OSI)

Established in 1993, the Open Society Institute (OSI) is the most prominent of the numerous foundations belonging to the international billionaire financier George Soros, its founder and Chairman. In the U.S., OSI is set up as a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization. OSI’s assets were reported to be $858,935,162 in 2005.

Claiming to be “a nonpartisan, nonpolitical entity” whose funding agendas are wholly separate” from “George Soros’s private political activities,” OSI describes itself as “a private operating and grant-making foundation."

In the last twenty-five years, Soros foundations have dispensed nearly $7,000,000,000 (billion) dollars to a multitude of organizations whose objectives are consistent with those of Soros. The OSI network of national foundations in 29 countries spent approximately $500 million in 2008 alone to “help people around the world.”

The President of OSI and the Soros Foundation Network is Aryeh Neier, who worked for the American Civil Liberties Union from 1963 to 1978, serving as its Director for the last eight of those years. Then, from 1978 to 1990, he was the Executive Director of Human Rights Watch.

OSI’s Director of U.S. Advocacy is Morton Halperin (President of John Podesta’s Center for American Progress, and a longtime affiliate of the Institute for Policy Studies and the National Lawyers Guild).

PBS broadcaster and Schumann Center for Media and Democracy President Bill Moyers is a former trustee of the Open Society Institute.

According to the
European Foundation Center (EFC), OSI had assets of $1.319 billion as of February, 2009. OSI alone donates scores of millions of dollars annually to groups whose activities cover all of the usual liberal causes.

OSI supports a wide array of leftist organizations. The following list, although lengthy, is still only a part of the full list:

·         Abortion Access Project
·         Alliance for Justice
·         America Coming Together
·         American Civil Liberties Union
·         Amnesty International
·         Brennan Center for Justice
·         Center for American Progress
·         Center for Community Change
·         Center for Investigative Reporting
·         Death Penalty Information Center
·         Death Penalty Mobilization Fund
·         Drug Policy Alliance
·         Earth Rights International
·         Feminist Majority
·         Gay Straight Alliance Network
·         Gun Violence Prevention
·         Human Rights First
·         Human Rights Watch
·         Institute for Policy Studies
·         International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission
·         Independent Media Institute
·         Lindesmith Center
·         Malcolm X Grassroots Movement
·         Million Mom March
·         MoveOn.org
·         Ms. Foundation for Women
·         NARAL Pro-Choice America

·         Proteus Fund
·         Sentencing Project
·         Tides Center
·         Tides Foundation
·         Urban Institute
·         Violence Policy Center
·         Youth Law Center

Note: not all listings contain hyperlinks

A key funder of the open borders movement, OSI also supports:
·         League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC)
·         National Immigration Forum
·         National Council of La Raza

A strong supporter of anti-war and environmentalist organizations, OSI is a member of the Peace and Security Funders Group. It is also a member of the International Human Rights Funders Group, a network of more than six-dozen grant-makers dedicated to bankrolling leftist organizations and causes.

OSI
endorsed a 2000 document called the Earth Charter, which blames capitalism for many of the world's environmental, social, and economic problems.

In the vanguard of the U.S. drug decriminalization movement,
OSI in 1994 pledged $4 million to fund the establishment of the Lindesmith Center, which supports the legalization of marijuana. In 2002 OSI gave $3 million to the Tides Foundation, earmarking the money for a group called Fund for Drug Policy Reform, which opposes the War on Drugs.

OSI was a signatory to a November 1, 2001 document characterizing the 9/11 attacks as a legal matter to be addressed by criminal-justice procedures rather than military retribution. Suggesting that the hijackers were motivated chiefly by a desire to point out global injustices perpetrated by the United States, this document explained that similar future calamities could be averted only if America would finally begin to “promote fundamental rights around the world.”

OSI endorsed the Civil Liberties Restoration Act (CLRA) of 2004, which was designed to roll back, in the name of protecting civil liberties, vital national-security policies that had been adopted after the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Numerous
OSI funding initiatives reflect the Institute’s view that the American criminal-justice system is infested with racism, and that incarceration is an inappropriate punishment for most lawbreakers. For example: (a) OSI has established a “U.S. Justice Fund” to “diminish the role of prisons ... and to pave the way for the creation of a larger system of public health and social supports.” (b) In a related measure, the Institute created an “After Prison Initiative focusing on “supporting the successful reentry of prisoners to their communities.” (c) OSI helps finance the Sentencing Project, which claims that prison sentencing patterns are racially discriminatory, and advocates in favor of granting voting rights to convicted felons. (d) OSI funds the Southern Center for Human Rights, which recruits lawyers to represent death row inmates and aims to reduce America’s alleged over-reliance on incarceration. (e) The Institute supports Critical Resistance, a program that impugns the “Prison Industrial Complex” for fostering the delusion that “caging and controlling people makes us safe.”

A strong advocate of
gun control, OSI funds the Network on Small Arms, which has lobbied the United Nations to pass a measure outlawing private gun ownership and effectively overturning the U.S. Constitution’s Second Amendment.

OSI funded the multi-year United Nations Millennium Development Project. In 2005 this Project culminated in a recommendation for a massive wealth-redistribution, foreign-aid program whose provisions, if adopted, would impose more than $150 billion in annual costs on Americans.

In August of 2008, we posted three articles in Pesky Truth on Senate bill S.2433. That bill (sponsored by then-Senator Obama) provided the enabling legislation that would support the U.N. Millennium Project in the U.S. The bill was called “The Global Poverty Act of 2007.” Effectively, via that legislation, Obama has already signed onto the U.N. “tax” on U.S. citizens. All that remains is to appropriate the funds.

August 16, 2005, OSI (in collaboration with the Center for American Progress, the AFL-CIO, the Service Employees International Union, AFSCME, and the United Steelworkers Union) launched a new organization called the Progressive Legislative Action Network (PLAN). Led by Democratic activists David Sirota and Steve Doherty, PLAN’s mission is to seed state legislatures with prewritten "model" legislation reflecting leftist visions of justice.

In additionto funding by Soros and his friends, between 1998 and 2003, OSI received more than $30 million from U.S.government agencies.

In an effort to present itself in the most positive light to the American people, OSI uses the services of the public relations firm Fenton Communications.

The Tides Foundation

Established in 1976 by California-based activist Drummond Pike, the Tides Foundation was set up as a public charity that receives money from donors and then funnels it to the recipients of their choice. Because many of these recipient groups are quite radical, the donors often prefer not to have their names publicly linked with the donees. By letting the Tides Foundation, in effect, "launder" the money for them and pass it along to the intended beneficiaries, donors can avoid leaving a "paper trail."

Such contributions are called "donor-advised," or donor-directed, funds. Through this legal loophole, nonprofit entities can also create for-profit organizations and then funnel money to them through Tides thereby circumventing the laws that bar nonprofits from directly funding their own for-profit enterprises.

Pew Charitable Trusts, for instance, set up three for-profit media companies and then proceeded to fund them via donor-advised contributions to Tides, which (for an 8 percent management fee) in turn sent the money to the media companies.

The Tides Foundation promotes a multitude of leftist agendas, as evidenced by its assertion: "We strengthen community-based organizations and the progressive movement by providing an innovative and cost-effective framework for your philanthropy."

Among the crusades to which Tides contributes are:

·         Radical environmentalism
·         The "exclusion of humans from public and private wildlands"
·         The anti-war movement
·         Anti-free trade campaigns
·         The banning of firearms ownership
·         Abolition of the death penalty
·         Access to government-funded abortion-on-demand
·         Radical gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender advocacy.

The Foundation is also a member organization of the International Human Rights Funders Group, a network of more than six-dozen grant-makers dedicated to financing leftwing groups and causes.

Immediately after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, Tides formed a "9/11 Fund" to advocate a "peaceful national response." Tides later replaced the 9/11 Fund with the "Democratic Justice Fund," which was financed in large measure by the Open Society Institute of George Soros, who has donated more than $7 million to Tides over the years. Reciprocally, the Tides Foundation is a major funder of the Shadow Party, a George Soros-conceived nationwide network of several dozen unions, non-profit activist groups, and think tanks whose agendas are ideologically to the left, and which are engaged in campaigning for the Democrats.

Tides and the organizations it supports interact closely with one another on a regular basis. For example, Drummond Pike sits on the Board of the Environmental Working Group along with David Fenton, founder of Fenton Communications.

A selected list of recent recipients of Tides Foundation grants include:

·         American Civil Liberties Union
·         ACORN Institute
·         Center for American Progress
·         Center for Community Change

Between 1993 and 2003, more than 91 foundations made grants to the Tides Foundation.

One particularly notable donor to the Tides entities is Teresa Heinz Kerry, wife of Senator John Kerry. From 1994 to 2004, the Heinz Endowments, which Mrs. Kerry heads, gave the Tides Foundation and Center approximately $8.1 million in grants. Until February 2001, Mrs. Kerry also served as a trustee of the Carnegie Corporation of New York, which has given Tides numerous six-figure grants.

The Tides Foundation and Tides Center also receive grants from the U.S. federal government. Between 1997 and 2001, these grants included the following:

·         $395,219 from the Department of Interior
·         $3,350,431 from the Environmental Protection Agency
·         $3,487,040 from the Department of Housing and Urban Development
·         $208,878 from the Department of Agriculture
·         $39,550 from the Department of Energy
·         $93,500 from the Small Business Administration
·         $10,986 from the Department of Health and Human Services
·         $84,520 from the Centers for Disease Control U.S. Agency for International Development.

(Total is $7,670,124)

The Tides Center

In 1996 the Tides Foundation created a separate but closely related entity called the Tides Center, also headed by Drummond Pike. The Foundation funded the Center creation with a $9 million seed grant. The Tides Center functions as a legal firewall insulating the Tides Foundation from potential lawsuits filed by people whose livelihoods or well-being may be harmed by Foundation-funded projects. (These could be, for instance, farmers or loggers who are put out of business by Tides-backed environmentalist groups.) In theory the Foundation's activities are restricted to fundraising and grant-making, while the Center focuses on managing projects and organizations; in practice, however, both entities do essentially the same thing.

The
Tides Center's Board Chairman is Wade Rathke, who is also a member of the Tides Foundation Board. Rathke, a protégé of the late George A. Wiley, serves as President of the New Orleans-based Local 100 of the Service Employees International Union, and is the founder and chief organizer of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN).

Maya Wiley, daughter of George A. Wiley, sits on the Tides Center's Board of Directors.

Chip Berlet sits on the Board of the Campaign to Defend the Constitution, a Tides Center project formed in 2005 to combat "the growing power of the religious right" and to "fight for the separation of church and state." Berlet is a senior analyst for Political Research Associates, and has had affiliations with the American Civil Liberties Union, the American Friends Service Committee, the Christic Institutethe Socialist Workers Party, the National Lawyers Guild, and the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Many recipients of foundation money today are the immensely influential activist organizations popularly known as Section 527 committees. Dedicated to promoting political candidates and agendas, 527s are, by definition, private, nonprofit groups that are less regulated and require less disclosure than other types of nonprofit groups engaged in electioneering. They need not register with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) as "political organizations." Consequently, they need not observe the FEC's strict limits on political contributions. The 527 committees may collect as much "soft money" as they like from individuals or corporations.

According to the Center for Responsive Politics, which tracks 527 data, liberal organizations have amassed nearly $80 million in donations compared to a mere $8 million for their conservative counterparts in 2004. Groups are categorized as 527s for the section of tax code that regulates them. Even though this data is five years old, it points out the disparity between the democrats and the Republicans when it comes to utilizing the 527 groups.

CONNECTING THE DOTS - The Players (1)

This is the first in a series of articles exposing little known information about the inner financial workings of our opposition – the liberal left. In this initial post, Pesky Truth will present four of the most influential individuals among those who fund the leftist groups. There are more to be sure, but these men are among the “heavy hitters” when it comes to enabling liberal candidates and causes.

The next article will highlight several of the most active liberal organizations, how they are funded, and relationships with other groups.

Remember that the players are highlighted in bold RED, the funds, organizations, or groups are highlighted in bold BLUE, and big bucks they throw around are in bold GREEN.

George Soros

George Soros is one of the most powerful men on earth, and one of the most reliably liberal. A New York hedge fund manager, he has amassed a personal fortune estimated By Forbes (March, 2009) at about $11 billion, placing him as the 29th richest among the world’s billionaires. His management company controls billions more in investor assets.

George Soros was born on August 12, 1930 in Budapest, Hungary. His father, Teodoro Schwartz, was an Orthodox Jew who, in 1936, changed the family surname from Schwartz to Soros in order to enable his family to conceal its Jewish identity. In 1947 Soros' family relocated from Hungary to England. Five years later, George graduated from the London School of Economics

Since 1979, his foundation network - whose flagship is the Open Society Institute (OSI) - has dispensed an estimated $5,000,000,000 (billion) dollars to a multitude of organizations whose objectives are consistent with those of Soros.

According to the European Foundation Center (EFC), OSI had assets of $1.319 billion as of February, 2009. OSI alone donates scores of millions of dollars annually to various groups, whose major agendas cover all of the usual liberal causes. OSI currently has operations in 29 countries.

Following is a partial list of organizations funded directly by Soros and OSI. A more comprehensive list will be found under the OSI group in the upcoming Groups article.

A key funder of the open borders movement, OSI also supports:

In addition to funding by Soros and his friends, between 1998 and 2003, OSI received more than $30 million from U.S. government agencies.

OSI was a signatory to a November 1, 2001 document characterizing the 9/11 attacks as a legal matter to be addressed by criminal-justice procedures rather than military retribution. Suggesting that the hijackers were motivated chiefly by a desire to point out global injustices perpetrated by the United States.

A strong advocate of gun control, OSI funds the Network on Small Arms, which has lobbied the United Nations to pass a measure outlawing private gun ownership and effectively overturning the U.S.

On August 16, 2005, OSI (in collaboration with the Center for American Progress, the AFL-CIO, the Service Employees International Union, AFSCME, and the United Steelworkers Union) launched a new organization called the Progressive Legislative Action Network (PLAN). Led by Democratic activists David Sirota and Steve Doherty, PLAN’s mission is to seed state legislatures with prewritten "model" legislation reflecting leftist visions of justice.

In the presidential election of 2004 alone, Soros donated $23,831,000 to various 527 groups dedicated to defeating President Bush. Imagine his chagrin when Bush won anyway.

"527s" are referred to by the IRS Code section that defines them, and dedicated to promoting political candidates and agendas, 527 groups are, by definition, private, nonprofit groups that are less regulated and require less disclosure than other types of nonprofit groups engaged in electioneering. They need not register with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) as "political organizations." Consequently, they need not observe the FEC's strict limits on political contributions. The 527 committees may collect as much "soft money" as they like from individuals or corporations.

Soros Fund Management also gave $3,515,000 to 527s in 2006 and $5,250,000 in 2008.

Soros and his friend Peter Lewis (Progressive Insurance) each gave $10 million to Americans Coming Together (ACT) and Soros also contributed:

$3 million to the Center for American Progress

$5 million to MoveOn.org.

And finally, take note of this:

In a November 2008 interview with Spiegel, Soros made the following comments that accurately outlined precisely the course that President Obama's administration is pursuing in 2009:

"I think we need a large stimulus package which will provide funds for state and local government to maintain their budgets -- because they are not allowed by the constitution to run a deficit. For such a program to be successful, the federal government would need to provide hundreds of billions of dollars. In addition, another infrastructure program is necessary. In total, the cost would be in the $300 to $600 billion dollar range [in addition to the $700 billion bailout which the government already had given to the financial industry]…. I think this is a great opportunity to finally deal with global warming and energy dependence. The U.S. needs a cap and trade system with auctioning of licenses for emissions rights. I would use the revenues from these auctions to launch a new, environmentally friendly energy policy. That would be yet another federal program that could help us to overcome the current stagnation."

The interviewer then said: "Your proposal would be dismissed on Wall Street as 'big government.' Republicans might call it European-style 'socialism.'" Soros replied:

"That is exactly what we need now. I am against market fundamentalism. I think this propaganda that government involvement is always bad has been very successful -- but also very harmful to our society…. I think it is better to have a government that wants to provide good government than a government that doesn't believe in government…. At times of recession, running a budget deficit is highly desirable. Once the economy begins to recover, you have to balance the budget. In 2010, the Bush tax cuts will expire and we should not extend them. But we will also need additional revenues."

George Soros is a man that can exert considerable influence on life in our United States. He uses his fortune to fund groups that support his extreme liberal views and encourages his wealthy friends to contribute to them as well.

When George’s money talks, people (especially politicians) listen.

Peter Lewis

Lewis was born in 1933 and graduated from Princeton University in 1955. A decade later, he took over the reins of Progressive Insurance from his father. Overseeing 100 employees and $6 million in revenues when he began, Lewis eventually grew the company to the point where it employed 14,000 people and boasted sales in excess of $4.8 billion annually. Progressive is now the third largest auto insurance company in the U.S.

According to Forbes magazine, Peter Lewis today possesses a fortune worth an estimated $1.1 billion. A strong supporter of the Democratic Party and its agendas, Lewis first became active in politics when he served as the Ohio finance chairman for George McGovern's 1972 presidential campaign. Over the years, Lewis has used his immense wealth to fund a host of leftist political campaigns, organizations, and causes.

In February 2008, Lewis contributed money to the presidential campaign of Barack Obama. He is also a close friend of Billionaire Financier George Soros and Democrat Senator Ted Kennedy.

Lewis’ Peter B. Lewis/Progressive Corp. foundation contributed $22,645,000 to 527 organizations in 2004 and only $1,624,375 in 2006. An amount for 2008 was not listed.

In addition to lesser amounts to other groups, Lewis contributed:

$5 million to the American Civil Liberties Union

$16 million to the Joint Victory Campaign

$10 million to America Coming Together

$2.5 million to Move On.Org

Along with George Soros, Lewis is a key financial supporter of Democracy Alliance and Media Matters for America.

Drummond Pike

Born in San Rafael, California in 1948, Drummond Pike has served as a leading official of a number of leftwing philanthropic organizations, most notably the Tides Network, which he founded in 1976. Today he is Tides’ chief executive officer.

Pike earned a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of California at Santa Cruz, and a master’s degree in that same field from the Eagleton Institute at Rutgers University. During his college years, he gained notoriety as an anti-Vietnam War protester.

In 1970 Pike was associate director of the Youth Project (YP). Initially organized by activists from the Center for Community Change, YP was a funding group through which wealthy donors could finance the activities of young activists engaging in anti-business community organizing.

Pike and Arca Foundation president Jane Bagley Lehman co-created the Tides Foundation as a public charity that could facilitate the anonymous transfer of funds to leftwing recipients.

Pike also heads the Tides Center, which was created in 1996 by the Tides Foundation. The Tides Center functions as a legal firewall insulating the Tides Foundation from potential lawsuits.

The Tides Center distributed nearly $66 million in grants in 2002 alone. In all, Tides has distributed more than $300 million for the Left. These funds went to rabid antiwar demonstrators, anti-trade demonstrators, domestic Islamist organizations, pro-terrorists legal groups, environmentalists, abortion partisans, extremist homosexual activists and open borders advocates.

In addition to his duties with TidesPike serves as a director of the Environmental Working Group (EWG) and as a board member of such activist groups as: Democracy Alliance; the Solidago Foundation; the Institute for Policy Studies; the Endswell Foundation, an environmental group in British Columbia; and Working Assets. Other organizations in which Pike has held leadership positions include Island Press, Network for Good, the Sage Centre, the Threshold Foundation, the Charity Projects Entertainment Fund, the Social Venture Network, the Sierra Fund, and America’s Charities.

Pike founded the website
Egrants.org (now Groundspring.org) to facilitate online charitable contributions to leftwing causes. He also created the Tsunami fund, an anti-capitalist, anti-gun ownership lobbying group. Both organizations have strong ties to the Tides Foundation.

Viewing the United States as a nation infested with "structural racism" that limits opportunities for nonwhites, Pike favors a highly progressive tax structure (i.e., one that taxes the rich at much higher rates than the poor) as a necessary means of redistributing wealth. Pike also supports socialized medicine.

Later in 2008, Pike's close ties to the community organization ACORN surfaced after it was learned that Dale Rathke, the brother of ex-ACORN president Wade Rathke, had embezzled nearly $1 million from ACORN and its affiliated groups in 1999 and 2000.

Drummond Pike personally repaid the embezzled amount to ACORN for Dale Rathke.

Pike is a great admirer of ACORN's founder and longtime leader Wade Rathke, who has been a Tides Foundation director since its inception.

Wade Rathke

Wade Rathke founded the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN), for which he served as Chief Organizer from 1970 to 2008. He is also the co-founder and Chairman of the Tides Center; a Board member of the Tides Foundation; an Executive Board member of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU); and Chairman of the AFL-CIO’s Organizers Forum. Rathke describes himself as someone who is dedicated to “winning social justice, workers' rights, and a democracy where ‘the people shall rule’”; i.e., socialism.

The Service Employees International Union (Rathke is an Executive Board member) gave $53,315,273 to 527 groups in 2004, $32,929,734 in 2006, and $34,534,324 in 2008.

Rathke hails from a family of prosperous orange ranchers in Orange County, California. During the late 1960s he attended Williams College in Massachusetts but dropped out before graduating. He thereafter became a draft-resistance organizer for the Students for a Democratic Society (SDS), and an organizer for George Wiley’s National Welfare Reform Organization (NWRO). He is a proponent of the “Cloward-Piven Strategy.”

In 1970, Rathke formed a new organization called Arkansas Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN). He enlisted civil rights workers and trained them in a program (at Syracuse University) patterned after Saul Alinsky’s activist tactics. The group’s name was later changed to Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, but the acronym ACORN remained the same.

Rathke and ACORN thereafter pushed into high gear their efforts to help Democrat candidates win political elections at any cost. Toward that end, ACORN's mass campaigns of voter-registration fraud would reach unprecedented heights in subsequent election cycles. ACORN’s paid workers, tasked with registering as many pro-Democrat voters as possible, submitted many tens of thousands of fraudulent voter-registration cards in key voting districts around the United States. By 2008, federal authorities were investigating voter fraud by ACORN in 15 separate states.

On June 2, 2008, Rathke stepped down from his role as ACORN’s President.

A month after his departure, the organization publicly acknowledged that Dale Rathke -- Wade’s brother -- had embezzled nearly $1 million from ACORN and its affiliated groups in 1999 and 2000. Tides Foundation founder and president Drummond Pike personally repaid the embezzled amount toACORN.

~~~
According to the Center for Responsive Politics, which tracks 527 data, liberal organizations have out-solicited their conservative counterparts by a factor of TEN; nearly TEN TIMES more donations going to liberal organizations than to conservative groups in 2004.
Groups are categorized as 527s for the section of tax code that regulates them. Even though the 2004 data noted above is five years old, it still points out the disparity between the democrats and the Republicans when it comes to utilizing the 527 groups.
Overall, 527 groups received over $250,000,000 in contributions in 2004, over $80,000,000 in 2006, and over $100,000,000 in 2008.
Be on the lookout for the next article in the series that begins to explore some of the organizations that are doing their best to transform our United States into a European-style Socialistic society. You'll find organizations mentioned in this post presented in more detail in "Connecting The Dots - (2) The Funds."
READ THE DAMN BILL!
Henry Waxman
Henry (Whack-Job) Waxman, prime sponsor of the "Cap and Tax" bill. Even he doesn't know what's in the bill.
I am pi$$ed about this, and EVERY SINGLE taxpayer ought to be as well. No matter the party – this is BIPARTISAN STUPIDITY. Congress (both parties) are lackadaisically passing bills SPENDING OUR MONEY without even knowing the details of what is in the bill.
THIS HAS GOT TO STOP!
Recently, the democrats broke the code on two fronts:
  • How to be sure that a bill is not read,
  • How to include ANYTHING (bridges to nowhere, non-functioning airports, turtle and frog tunnels, etc.) with NO chance of anyone knowing about it until it’s too late.
Here’s how it works: Simply inflate the contents until the bill approaches (or exceeds) about a thousand (1,000) pages. That will assure that the bill isn’t read.
To counter the Republican’s move requiring that the bill be read, the dems have hired a “speed reader.” They did that before with the Porkulus bill. A speed reader was brought in to read the bill. They stopped him after a few minutes and even HE didn’t read the entire bill. It was 1,073 pages, spending $787,000,000 OF TAXPAYER MONEY and NO ONE READ THE WHOLE THING. And as usual, the devil was in the details. There were BILLIONS of dollars in earmarks in that bill. True, since the democrats redefined the term “earmarks,” there are no longer “technically” any earmarks under the new, improved definition. But under the real original definition, there are BILLIONS earmarked to pet projects.
So to support Obama’s statement that he’d eliminate earmarks, the Congress didn’t stop the practice, they just redefined what constitutes an earmark – simple, isn’t it.
We, the people, MUST STOP THIS INSANE PRACTICE.
What do we need “intelligent,” “energetic,” and “hard-working” representatives for when even an illiterate can vote “Yes.” So, he or she can’t read – so what? Apparently, reading is not a prerequisite for serving in our Congress.
Even Henry Waxman (the bill’s chief sponsor) admits that ““I certainly don’t claim to know everything that’s in this bill.” The bill was 900 pages not long ago – but that was then - today, it has grown.
Here’s an excerpt from Paul Blumenthal’s latest:
1. The original bill, H.R. 2454, approximately 1,000 pages, was reported out of the Energy & Commerce Committee.
2. It was replaced this week by H.R. 2998, 1,201 pages, which will be voted on as an amendment in the form of a substitute.
3. The Rules Committee, last night (June 25th), released a committee report that includes a 300-page amendment to H.R. 2998. This 300-page amendment, the Waxman amendment (#121), is considered as adopted upon an affirmative vote for H.R. 2998. The bill, including the new amendment, now contains 1,501 pages.
300 MORE PAGES ADDED TO THE BILL OVERNIGHT.
The Heritage Foundation's economic analysis of that bill estimates that it will bring $840,000,000,000 (that’s BILLION) into federal coffers. That’s $840 billion dollars of taxpayer money and NO ONE will have read the entire 1,501 pages spending that money.
We have a RIGHT to know what we're paying for, there's supposed to be transparency ... BS.
We must now hope and pray that the Senate is more reasonable. It appears that there is a good chance that the bill won't pass in the Senate. That only means that it will go to committee so they can negotiate common ground - it doesn't mean that Cap and Tax is dead. With any luck, maybe the Republicans with cajones can neuter some parts of it and so reduce the damage. One can HOPE that the Senate can CHANGE it. We also need to target the eight RINOs who voted for it.
And once it gets through the senate? When will he sign it? During the campaign, he said:
"Too often bills are rushed through Congress and to the president before the public has the opportunity to review them," Obama's campaign Web site states . "As president, Obama will not sign any nonemergency bill without giving the American public an opportunity to review and comment on the White House Web site for five days."
We'll watch to see if he waits five days ... he hasn't waited five days before ... if he does, it will be the FIRST TIME.
 We must REFUSE to accept "not knowing [fill in the blank] was in the bill" as an excuse. "Not Knowing" gets a failing grade, just like in school. If a congress person doesn't know what's in a bill, we've got the wrong person in Congress.
IF WE ALLOW THIS TO CONTINUE, WE'LL DESERVE WHATEVER WE GET.
Connecting Michelle Obama’s Dots
NOTE to readers: I’m trying a new formatting scheme in the following post. It is intended to help the reader connect the dots by highlighting the players in bold red and the groups (funds, institutions, etc.) in bold blue. We’ll see how it works. I’d appreciate feedback on the coloring scheme since, if it works, I’ll be using the same technique in an upcoming post exposing the connections between funds, groups, and people.
Connecting Michelle Obama’s Dots
We’re not talking about dots on that colorful and stylish polka-dotted frock she wore in Paris. We mean some of the under-the-radar dots of troubling information about our “Firstest with the Mostest” lady.
But before we launch into an expose of some lesser known facts that cast a not-so-favorable light on Mrs. Obama, consider this hypothetical situation (it may be hypothetical – but it could happen:
Let’s say that something happens to Barack.
[NOTE to Janet Napolitano and the Secret Service: I’m not suggesting anything untoward here, this IS a hypothetical scenario. Lord knows I already fit all of Napolitano’s criteria to qualify as a right-wing extremist.]
Let’s say that B. Hussein goes to heaven to give God a hand in organizing those pesky right-wingers still clinging to their guns.
What percentage of the country’s citizens would gladly accept MICHELLE as our new President (rather than Joe Biden)?
I’m guessing, easily a third. I bring this up to remind us that she is part of the Holy Duo, as worshipped by the flock as her husband The Messiah. And, at the same time, to illustrate how some of our citizens are so enamored with the Holy Duo that they would completely ignore the Constitution just to have a fashion icon, racially-correct President “representing” them.
Don’t scoff – if you disagree, just tell me where I’m wrong in making that statement.
Michelle is revered, just like Barack. Together, we have two attorneys, both graduating from Ivy-league universities, both clean, well-dressed, articulate, and intelligent, and both steeped in the seamy political corruption routinely practiced in Chicago. And need we mention that both are African-Americans.
Citizens would be wise to question everything relating to either of these two paradigms of virtue. As more becomes known about Michelle, it is evident that she is cut from the same cloth as Barack – anti-capitalistic, Saul Alinsky-following, neo-fascists.
And Michelle, as a liberal black woman, becomes practically bullet proof. Anyone who dares to insult her will be trampled by a herd of black ministers, civil rights leaders, NOW members, moveon.org, Huff Post, and church ladies in big hats.
But make no mistake, there are skeletons in Michelle’s expensive-shoe-filled, walk-in closet.
Here’s a “for instance”:
On January 24th, 2009, there was a short column entitled "Replacing Michelle" in the National Review "The Week" column. Part of it was included in an e-mail that is making the rounds. The e-mail follows:
Some employees are simply irreplaceable. Take Michelle Obama: The University of Chicago Medical center hired her in 2002 to run "programs for community relations, neighborhood outreach, volunteer recruitment, staff diversity and minority contracting".
In 2005, the hospital raised her salary from $120,000 to $317, 000 nearly twice what her husband made as a Senator. Oh, did we mention that her husband had just become a U.S. Senator? He sure had. And that he immediately requested a $1 million earmark for the UC Medical Center, in fact?... You betcha by golly... He surely did.
Way to network Michelle! But now that Mrs. Obama has resigned, the hospital says her position will remain unfilled. How can that possibly be? Especially if the work she did was vital enough to be worth $317,000? They report that her workload has been absorbed by other employees. Isn’t that worrisome when the work done by a $317,000 employee can be absorbed by other employees, with no determent to the hospital? In the “real world,” that $317,000 position simply wouldn’t exist.
Oh, by the way, let me add that Michelle's position was a part time, 20 hour week job at $317,000.00 per year ! . And to think they were critical of Blagoyovich's wife for taking $100,000 in fuzzy real estate commission. Question is.. How did this bit of quid pro quo corruption escape the sharp reporters that dug through Sarah Palin's garbage and kindergarten files?
In the interest of fairness, most of the e-mail does appear to be accurate except the last paragraph. In fact, she did receive a reduction in pay when she reduced her work time to 20 hours a week. So the last paragraph is wrong – she did not continue the $317,000 salary when her work week was reduced to twenty hours.
Nevertheless, a raise of $195,052 is nothing to sneeze at - when’s the last time YOU got a raise of almost $200,000?
Maybe if your spouse had just been elected to a U.S. Senate seat ... and a $1 million earmark for the UC Medical Center might be in the cards? Maybe then?
Just a coincidence? Connect the dots.
Michelle as a Distinguished Attorney?
During the past Presidential campaign, the state-owned media referred to Michelle Obama as a 'distinguished attorney" despite the fact that Michelle Obama has been "inactive" since 1993.
Checking the records of the Attorney Registration & Disciplinary Commission (ARDC) of the Supreme Court of Illinois, another Obama skeleton comes rattling out of the closet.
The Attorney Registration & Disciplinary Commission, an agency of the Illinois Supreme Court, is responsible for maintaining current records of registration and discipline information for lawyers licensed to practice in Illinois and investigating allegations of misconduct by lawyers.
Information as of June 18, 2009 at 12:23:36 PM, from the ARDC website. Here’s the link: https://www.iardc.org/index.html
It has been reported that she gave up her license in a deal to stop an investigation into corruption charges based on her $195,052 salary increase followed shortly thereafter by a $1,000,000 earmark to the hospital by her State Senate husband. It waddles and quacks like a Quid pro quo, doesn’t it?
How did the Obamas avoid an investigation? Connect the dots.
The following are excerpts from an article by Michelle Malkin, June 19, 2009. Full article available at: http://michellemalkin.com/
The Obamacare horror story you won’t hear
The White House, Democrats, and MoveOn liberals are spreading health care sob stories to sell a government takeover. But there’s one health care policy nightmare you won’t hear the Obamas hyping. It’s a tale of poor, minority patient-dumping in Chicago - with First Lady Michelle Obama’s fingerprints all over it.
Both Republican Sen. Charles Grassley of Iowa and Democrat Rep. Bobby Rush of Chicago have raised red flags about the outsourcing program, run by the University of Chicago Medical Center.
The hospital has non-profit status and receives lucrative tax breaks in exchange for providing charity care. Yet, it spent a measly $10 million on charity care for the poor in fiscal 2007 when Mrs. Obama was Vice President of Community and External Affairs there - 1.3 percent of its total hospital expenses, according to an analysis performed for The Washington Post by the non-partisan Center for Tax and Budget Accountability. The figure is below the 2.1 percent average for nonprofit hospitals in surrounding Cook County.
Rep. Rush called for a House investigation in response to months of patient-dumping complaints. Don’t expect the president to support a probe though. While a top executive at the hospital, Mrs. Obama helped engineer the plan to offload low-income patients with non-urgent health needs. Under the Orwellian banner of an “Urban Health Initiative,” Mrs. Obama sold the scheme to outsource low-income care to other facilities as a way to “dramatically improve health care for thousands of South Side residents.”
In truth, it was old-fashioned cost-cutting and favor-trading repackaged as minority aid. Clearing out the poor freed up room for insured (i.e., more lucrative) patients and thereby increased revenue.
Joe Stephens of the Washington Post wrote: “To ensure community support, Michelle Obama and others in late 2006 recommended that the hospital hire the firm of David Axelrod, who a few months later became the chief strategist for Barack Obama’s presidential campaign. Axelrod’s firm recommended an aggressive promotional effort modeled on a political campaign - appoint a campaign manager, conduct focus groups, target messages to specific constituencies, then recruit religious leaders and other third-party ‘validators.’ They, in turn, would write and submit opinion pieces to Chicago publications.”
The University of Chicago Medical Center hired Axelrod’s public relations firm, ASK Public Strategies, to promote Mrs. Obama’s Urban Health Initiative. This is the same David Axelrod who is now president Obama’s senior adviser at the White House. Axelrod had the blessing of Chicago political guru Valerie Jarrett (she was Deputy Chief of Staff for Mayor Richard Daley) – and is now also a White House senior adviser
In February 2009, outrage in the Obamas’ community exploded after a young boy covered by Medicaid was turned away from the University of Chicago Medical Center. Dontae Adams’ mother, Angela, had sought emergency treatment for him after a pit bull tore off his upper lip. Mrs. Obama’s hospital gave the boy a tetanus shot, antibiotics, and Tylenol and shoved him out the door.The mother and son had to take an hour-long bus ride to another hospital for surgery.
Following the Adams incident, the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) blasted Mrs. Obama and Mr. Axelrod’s grand plan. The group released a statement expressing “grave concerns that the University of Chicago’s policy toward emergency patients is dangerously close to ‘patient dumping,’ a practice made illegal by the Emergency Medical Labor and Treatment Act (EMTALA).”
Corruption in Chicago? Oh My. Connect the dots.
By now, everyone knows that Michelle worked at Sidley & Austinas an associate attorney from 1988 to 1991.
The law firm of Sidley & Austin was run by Howard Trienens, friend of Thomas Ayers, who was the father of Bill Ayers, and father-in-Law of Bernadine Dohrn.
Bernardine Dohrn was hired by Trieners and worked for Sidley & Austin from 1984 to 1988, while she unsuccessfully sought admission to the New York and Illinois bars. It appears that Dohrn first worked in Sidley’s New York office, and then in its Chicago office.
In 1989, Barack went to work as an intern at Sidley & Austin; Michelle Robinson (later to become Mrs. Obama), was assigned to be his mentor.
In 1991, Valerie Jarrett, Deputy Chief of Staff for Mayor Richard Daley, offers Michelle Robinson a job as Assistant to the Mayor. Michelle Robinson insists then-fiancé Barack Obama meet Valerie Jarrett. Michelle Robinson leaves Sidley & Austin and goes to work for Mayor Richard Daley, Jr,. Bernadine Dohrn goes to work at Northwestern University School of Law as an adjunct professor of law as a “Clinical Associate Professor of Law.”
Barack and Michelle get married in 1992. Barack directs Illinois’ Project Vote, a voter registration drive. Remember that Project Vote is the voter-mobilization arm of George Soros-funded ACORN. Barack begins teaching Constitutional Law at the University of Chicago Law School.
Together in 1992, Barack and Michelle founded the Chicago office of Public Allies. Michelleis named Executive Director of this group, which encouraged young people to work on social issues in nonprofit groups and government agencies. Barack goes to work as an associate for the law firm of Davis, Miner, Barnhill & Galland, which specializes in civil rights litigation and neighborhood economic development. Barrack gets on board of directors of the Woods Fund of Chicago.
Barack is placed on the board of directors of the Joyce Foundation in 1994.
Bill Ayers works with Mayor Richard Daley on the city’s school reform program. Ayers writes grant proposal for Chicago Annenberg Challenge and obtains $49.2 million over 5 years for public school reform. Even though his wife, Bernadine Dohrn says “I still see myself as a radical.”
Barack is selected as Founding President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge. Remember that Bill Ayers was the source of almost $50,000,000 in grant money that will fund the Challenge. Isn’t it logical that he would have had a say in hiring the initial President and Chairman of the Board?
Bill Ayers has Barack fundraiser and political coming out party in his home. Barack and Michelle Obama were both present.
In an interview published in 1995, Ayers characterized his political beliefs at that time and in the 1960s and 1970s: “I am a radical, Leftist, small ‘c’ communist … [Laughs] Maybe I’m the last communist who is willing to admit it. [Laughs] We have always been small ‘c’ communists in the sense that we were never in the [Communist] party and never Stalinists. The ethics of Communism still appeal to me. I don’t like Lenin as much as the early Marx. I also like Henry David Thoreau, Mother Jones and Jane Addams […]”
In 1996, Michelle Obama goes to work for the University of Chicago as Associate Dean of Student Services. Barack is promoted to Senior Lecturer at University of Chicago. Barack elected to Illinois Senate. He is reported to be a member of the “New Party,” (Democrat Socialist Party). They proudly announce their member Barack Obama won his State Seat.
Michelle and Barack associating with communists, terrorists? A member of a Socialist organization? Connect the dots.
AmeriCrooks Watch: Meddling Michelle Obama to keynote volunteerism conference
By Michelle Malkin  •  June 20, 2009 10:47 AM   +   Following is the link  for the full article:
http://michellemalkin.com/2009/06/20/americrooks-watch-meddling-michelle-obama-to-keynote-volunteerism-conference/
Well, well, well.
Michelle, Michelle, Michelle.
Where will the First Lady be on Monday?
Why, she’ll be delivering the keynote address at the 2009 National Conference on Volunteering and Service in San Francisco.
And who is co-sponsoring the conference?
Why, the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS)! Yes, that’s the same CNCS that is the parent organization of AmeriCorps.
It’s the same CNCS that last year suspended Sacramento mayor/Obama crony Kevin Johnson from receiving federal funds after then-inspector general Gerald Walpin blew the whistle on massive fraud and abuse of AmeriCorps dollars for personal and political gain.
It’s the same CNCS that then sat by and meekly watched Team Obama and the U.S. Attorney in Sacramento railroad Walpin after the November 2008 election for doing his damned job.
And now, there is no honest, independent watchdog to raise questions on behalf of taxpayers as the Obama political machine takes over the national service juggernaut. How … convenient.
By the way: The First Lady’s former chief of staff, Jackie Norris, starts her new job as “senior adviser” (translation: Michelle O’s mole) at CNCS on Monday. And from the AmeriCorpspress release published yesterday:
“The First Lady has made service and volunteering a life calling, and her leadership is helping to inspire a whole new generation of Americans who are making service a part of their daily lives,” said Nicola Goren, Acting CEO of the Corporation for National and Community Service. “Her participation demonstrates the high priority the White House has placed on service as a way to help in our nation’s recovery.”
“First Lady Michelle Obama knows first-hand the power of service to transform lives and communities,” said Michelle Nunn, CEO of the Points of Light Institute and co-founder of HandsOn Network. “We are thrilled that she chose our national conference as the platform to launch United We Serve. She has made service a centerpiece of her agenda, and her appearance will add a burst of excitement and a new significance to this gathering of service leaders as well as our larger efforts to usher in a new era of service.”
I first raised questions about the First Lady’s meddling into the AmeriCrooks mess on June 12 after following up on little-noticed reports in the niche publication Youth Today detailing Mrs. Obama’s active role and interest in staffing the top management at CNCS. As I noted last week:
Mrs. Obama’s interest is more than passing. She ran the AmeriCorps-funded non-profit Public Allies in Chicago from 1993-1996 and served on its national board until 2001. Like so many of the AmeriCorps recipients investigated by the inspector general’s office over the years, Public Allies was found to have violated basic eligibility and compliance rules. A January 2007 auditreported that the group lacked internal controls verifying that recipients who received education grants and living allowances were legal citizens or permanent residents as required by law. [Sounds like ACORN, huh?]
Michelle Obama’s installation as the face and voice of the government volunteerism boondoggle only deepens suspicions about the role she and her staff may have played in Gerald Walpin’s sacking.
Guess who else was supposed to speak at the CNCS conference next week?
The supposedly dazed and confused Gerald Walpin.
Mr. Walpin said, on Tuesday June 9, just one day before the White House first asked him to step down, the agency asked him to make a speech on June 23 in San Francisco to a conference of some 2,000 staff members and grantees. The invitation, he said, was delivered by Gretchen Van De Veer, director of the Office of Leadership Development and Training at the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS).
“They begged me to come,” he said. “Why would they do that if they thought I am incapacitated?”
Still connecting dots?
Obama Firing was Retaliatory
Obama Firing was Retaliatory
(Emphasis is mine throughout)
President B. Hussein Obama has notified Congress that he intends to fire Gerald Walpin, an inspector general of the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), the federal agency that oversees such subsidized volunteer programs as AmeriCorps.
Why does this matter?
A George W. Bush appointee, Mr. Walpin has been the inspector general for the CNCS since 2007. In April 2008, the Corporation asked Mr. Walpin to investigate reports of irregularities at St. HOPE Academy, a California nonprofit run by former NBA star and Obama supporter, Kevin Johnson. St. Hope had received a grant of about $850,000 from AmeriCorps.
The Academy's mission, according to its website, is "to revitalize inner-city communities through public education, civic leadership, economic development and the arts." Sounds like Johnson and the Academy wanted to get on the ACORN grant-money gravy train, doesn’t it?
St. HOPE’s website states: “Over the last 19 years, St. HOPE has dramatically improved Oak Park through its holistic community development approach, and has made a major economic impact and contribution in the community.  St. HOPE has started, attracted or catalyzed the creation of 20 businesses throughout the community resulting in nearly 300 jobs.” The terms “started, attracted, or catalyzed” used in referring to the “creation” of 20 businesses in 19 years, uses the same rhetorical gymnastics as Obama’s “creating or saving” jobs – “achievements” almost impossible to verify. Even so, bringing in 20 new businesses in 19 years is hardly an achievement worth bragging about.
Mr. Walpin's investigators discovered that the $850,000 had been used instead to pad staff salaries, meddle politically in a school-board election, and have AmeriCorps members perform personal services for Mr. Johnson, including washing his car.
At the end of May, Mr. Walpin's office recommended that Mr. Johnson, an assistant, and St. HOPE itself be suspended from receiving additional federal funds. The CNCS official charged with suspensions agreed, and in September, the suspension letters went out. Mr. Walpin's office also sent a civil and/or criminal referral to the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of California.
"They never disputed it whatsoever," Walpin said. "And indeed the agency itself found that our statements were correct and our findings were correct."
But that all changed last fall, when Mr. Johnson was elected mayor of Sacramento.
Coincidently, Johnson was one of only a few mayors invited to meet with the President and Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel to discuss how stimulus money could be spent in their local communities.
By this time, news of the suspension had become public, and President Obama began to discuss his federal stimulus spending. A city-hired attorney pronounced in March that Sacramento might be barred from receiving stimulus funds because of Mr. Johnson's suspension.
Mr. Johnson’s suspension could have resulted in Sacramento being left out of the stimulus sweepstakes!
The news caused a public uproar. The U.S. Attorney's office, which since January has been headed by Lawrence Brown, had already decided not to pursue criminal charges but did enter into an agreement with the Academy to repay $400,000 of the misused funds.
Media and political pressure then mounted for the office to settle the issue and lift Mr. Johnson's suspension.
Mr. Walpin agreed that Mr. Johnson should pay back money but objected to lifting the suspension. He noted that Mr. Johnson has never officially responded to the Corporation's findings and that the entire point of suspension is to keep federal funds from individuals shown to have misused them.
Mr. Brown's office responded by cutting off contact with Mr. Walpin's office and began working directly with the Corporation, the board of which is now chaired by one of Mr. Obama's top campaign fundraisers, Alan Solomont. A few days later, Mr. Brown's office produced a settlement draft that significantly watered down any financial repayment and cleared Mr. Johnson
Mr. Walpin brought his concerns to the Corporation's board, but some board members were angry over a separate Walpin investigation into the wrongful disbursement of $80 million to the City University of New York. Concerned about the St. HOPE mess, Mr. Walpin wrote a 29-page report, signed by two other senior members of his office, and submitted it in April to Congress.
Last Wednesday, he got a phone call from a White House lawyer telling him to resign within an hour or be fired.
The phone call came from Norman Eisen, the Special Counsel to the President for Ethics and Government Reform, who said the President felt it was time for Mr. Walpin to "move on," and that it was "pure coincidence" he was asked to leave during the St. HOPE controversy.
The Plot Thickens.
That's because last year Congress passed the Inspectors General Reform Act of 2008, co-sponsored by then-Senator B. Hussein Obama, inspectors general do not serve at the president's pleasure and therefore cannot be fired without 30 days notice and written cause for the decision sent to Congress.
Independent federal inspectors general were granted special protection from political interference to ensure that they are free to investigate waste and fraud uninfluenced by political cronyism.
Iowa Republican Chuck Grassley, a co-sponsor of the IG Reform Act, is now demanding that the Corporation hand over its communications on this mess. He also wants to see any contact with the office of First Lady Michelle Obama, who has taken a particular interest in AmeriCorps, and whose former chief of staff, Jackie Norris, recently arrived at the Corporation as a "senior adviser."
Sen. Grassley also wrote a letter to Obama last week saying he was "deeply troubled" by the appearance that Walpin was given an "ultimatum" without sufficient notice.
"Inspectors general were designed to have a dual role reporting to both the president and Congress so that they would be free from undue political pressure," he wrote. "This independence is the hallmark of all inspectors general and is essential so they may operate independently, without political pressure or interference from agencies attempting to keep their failings from public scrutiny."
Grassley agreed with Walpin, saying "it appears he has been doing his job."
Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., ranking Republican on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, wrote White House Counsel Gregory Craig a letter on Monday requesting additional documents, explanations, and e-mails surrounding the firing. In the letter, he said Obama may have "violated" the law by giving an explanation that was "insufficiently vague" and immediately terminating Walpin.
Though the Obama letter technically included a 30-day window, Issa said his committee's investigation revealed that Walpin was given scant notice. He wrote that Walpin was given one hour by White House staff to either resign or be fired.
Issa noted growing speculation that the firing was "politically motivated" and retaliatory.
"Bottom line," one source wrote, "getting rid of a tough, Republican-appointed IG who has been aggressively going after waste and fraud gives Obama a chance to replace that IG with a more compliant team player."
My interpretation of that statement is that Obama is determined to replace an IG who was identifying and stopping waste and fraud with one who will ignore waste and fraud when committed by a Team Obama ally.
A later June 17, 2009 update:
(Thanks to The Crawfish for tipping me off to these latest activities on Hot Air and Michelle’s website (Malkin, not Obama)).
Did the Obama administration rush to close a probe into fraud committed by a political ally before discovering obstruction of justice?  The Sacramento Bee reports that a former official at St. HOPE alleges that now-Mayor Kevin Johnson’s emails relating to the fraudulent use of money were deleted from the servers in order to obstruct the investigation that Gerald Walpin conducted.
The FBI’s Sacramento division is investigating a former St. HOPE executive’s allegations of obstruction of justice, Acting U.S. Attorney Lawrence G. Brown confirmed Tuesday.
Rick Maya, who officially left his position as executive director with St. HOPE last week, alleged in an April resignation letter that a member of the charter schools’ board deleted Johnson’s e-mails during the federal investigation. Those claims, uncovered by a public records request by The Bee, caught the interest of Brown’s office, who asked the FBI’s Sacramento division to look into it.
Now, it looks like the White House is the one with a cognitive problem.  It seems that they rushed a conclusion to the investigation without checking on the cooperation of the accused or even determining whether they had seen all of the evidence.  And when the independent Inspector General tried to make that very point, the White House attacked him instead of the person who defrauded the government and may have obstructed justice on top of it.
